yes, you can reset if you have time on the play clock to avoid an illegal motion penalty (think of the times when Peyton, among many others of course, calls an audible and suddenly 4 dudes are running around.. then they get set, then a normal play is run)
Something just didn't feel right all week. The Eagles had faced mediocre competition during their three wins and then this opponent before starting the rest of a brutal schedule next week. I thought they might get caught looking ahead and boy did it feel like it. I'll say injuries played a key role too. Peters is an All-Pro left tackle and he was gone in the first and Seymour had two sacks, 3 hits on McNabb, several hurries, and 2 tackles for a loss on that side with King Dunlap in his place and Gaither is much better in coverage than Trotter and look who was out there during the only touchdown of the game and the game sealing 3rd and 10 conversion. Crucial. As for the game, Reid abandoned the run just because the Eagles were down by 7 or less most of the game. He has a tendency to do that whenever the Eagles get down. Throw-throw-throw. That was the Eagles weakness this game, McNabb was getting tons of pressure and was not very accurate all day long and his receivers were barely ever open. Meanwhile, Westbrook averaged 8.3 yards per carry but only carried the ball 6 times and as a team they averaged 4.8 yards per carry and only ran 14 times and people wonder why Eagles fans are questioning a contract extension for this man. I don't want to take anything away from the Raiders though. I think they exposed a major weakness in the Eagles that being the offensive line and they beat them primarily because of that.
I read something that said the Raiders blitzed like 57% of the time yesterday. Coming in, they were blitzing like 14%, last in the league. That sudden defensive shift in philosophy probably caught the Eagles off guard, who were probably expecting to have plenty of time to hit the open routes over the middle.
I don't agree with this at all. While LT's prime couple of years were amazing, he didn't do it for long enough IMO to be considered a top 5 all time running back, or even top 10 really. There were a lot more impressive running backs than LT that sustained for much longer...Tomlinson has been pretty unimpressive for a few years now, and certainly not top 5 all time.
Who would you put in the top 5? If LT stays healthy this season, he'll be #6 or #7 in all-time rushing yards. Even with a couple of more mediocre seasons, he'll be in the top 4. He's had 7 good-to-great seasons out of 9. There aren't many RBs to can claim much more than that.
jim brown barry sanders emmitt smith walter payton oj simpson just off the top of my head and in no particular order.
LT's also already 2nd all time in rushing TD's and 4th in all-time Rushing+Receiving TDs. I can see making the case that others are better, but I think it's hard to argue he hasn't done it long-enough.
There is a sneaky key component to good rushing seasons and its name is Lorenzo Neal. If you look at the seasons RBs have had running behind Neal, the stats are astounding. Eddie George for a couple seasons, Corey Dillon's good seasons in Cinci, and finally Tomlinson during the prime of both of their careers.
Jim Brown and Barry Sanders played about as long as LT has so far. OJ Simpson played 11 years, 6 of which sucked. He had 5 good/great seasons. If they be considered as having done it long enough, then LT certainly should be able to as well.
Smith Brown Sanders Payton Dickerson Right now LT is right about where Marshall Faulk is, which is somewhere near the end of the top 10, definitely top 15.
You're probably right. The Raiders basically flipped the switch on them. Eagles fans were smoking hot this morning on call-in shows.
Calling myself out on the fail. Daniel is on the Saints team. Redskins have Todd Collins and Colt Brennan as backups. Ergh
and it makes sense. The eagles WRs are not very impressive. I would take my chances with the CBs being on an island out there. plus, it's not like oakland could get worse
With Brennan on IR, and Collins being quite old, I think Campbell is safe. I think if Brennan wasn't on IR, he would be starting at least one game this season.
DeSean Jackson isn't impressive? Even with the bad day he still nearly had 100 yards receiving. Many people have said he is one of the up and coming receivers in the league and I have seen several say he is the one of if not the best in his division. Maclin has displayed some flashes through the early part of his career. Avant is a chain mover on 3rd downs. Celek is slowly becoming one of the best tight ends in football I think you're not giving the receivers enough credit. The key is pressure. When a defense gets pressure on the quarterback, they make everybody else look good in the passing game, especially the secondary. Pro Bowl secondaries have been made off of great defense lines. The Raiders had excellent pass rush and pressure yesterday. Their front four one them that game.
