That is the point of the 14th Ammendment. I can't see how even in Louisiana this decision can be upheld.
"Piles and piles" of black friends... Does that sound disturbing to anyone else? Sounds kind of like a Freudian mass-grave fantasy, um, to me... And leave the Yugo guy alone -- he is talking about breeding Serbs and Croats. All of us are against that!
So has much of Louisiana. The, "I'm not personally racist, but I would never marry a black person because I'd be concerned for our children," is a common refrain heard in the South.
well, I'm white and my wife is mexican...and it's my experience that interracial marriages can last a long long time.
there are certain health risks involved with interracial marriages. My daughter has had eczema and our doctor has told us that her being bi-racial might be a factor. Not a huge problem... but nonetheless. I'm not defending this clown judge... just saying that some bi-racial children DO experience medical problems.
Over 25+ years ago, my best friend was against inter-racial marriages. I think his father taught him that. He's been happily married over 20 years to a wife of mexican heritage.
On balance, this is incorrect - many genetic diseases are caused by recessive genes which are less likely to occur when different ethnicities interbreed. Ever hear of the expression "hybrid vigor?" - works the same for people. That's why things like sickle cell anemia is a big problem for african americans, eastern european jews have a higher risk of tay sachs, norther europeans have a higher risk of cystic fibrosis - etc.
Unbelievable. When I was in law school in Houston in 95/96, there was a guy who was an otherwise really nice guy who made statements just like that judge. He was from...you guessed it...Louisiana.
It is a common refrain that used to be heard in the South, but generally is now only heard from the mouths of the quickly aging bigots who can vividly remember "separate but equal." Here's to their retirement from positions of power.
