You have a good point Stylez. But if Rashard knows that the best he can get is $6 mil, would that be enough to keep him there instead of $5 mil from the Rockets? On paper, 5 and 6 doesn't seem like a big difference, but 1 million dollars is a lot in reality. For some reason, I think that he'll end up staying with Seattle. Hopefully, I'm wrong.
IMO, if he has to take less money (less than the max) , he wont be taking it in Seattle. It doesnt seem like he has any desire to play there.
Hmmm, that's interesting. If the Rockets could get him that way (without giving him the max, or losing key players like Nachbar and Griffin), I'd be all over that. The Rockets have size and depth in the backcourt, so tying up some money in Lewis wouldn't hurt really.
He's a 2 guard. I don't see a lot of minutes there, with Cat and Steve. As for the Bowen comparison, Buckner is 6'4". I don't see him playing a lot of SF.
Stylez and RocksM hit the nail on the head....bottom line is that we could do a lot worse for the MCE than Rashard Lewis. For 4-5 million, its a no-brainer.
I think its pick on the newbie day. How can I be wrong will if the rockets want Rashard and do too? And millium its simple, rashard has 4 years in the L,nachbar has ZERO Man,when rashard haters make up their minds, theres no way to change them. Please explain if im so WRONG,how can anyone guarentee that nachbar will be as good as rashard?
Read my post about 5 more times.I never said I wold trade griffin for lewis.nachbar maybe,Please dont put words in my mouth.
I'm not picking on you at all, I'm just giving you a different point of view. If Lewis was drafted as a high school player who hadn't proved anything in the NBA at the time but is a quality player now, why can't Nachbar do the samething? And did I say I hated Lewis? No. I just said I hope the Rockets don't trade Nachbar and Griffin for him, or give him the max. That's all. Nobody can guarantee that Nachbar will be as good as Rashard, but nobody could guarantee that Lewis would be a good player. If they could Lewis wouldn't have gone in the 2nd round.
It it about the money as to why the Rox wouldn't do the trade? Or do they really think that much of Nachbar? I know they love KT but he's probably out of here when his contract expires becuz he'll want to start and more $$$ of course so that's why we should trade him before we lose him for nothing.....
Yea but Cat and Steve won't each be playing 48 minutes a game, at least they shouldn't. Not if you want them to be healthy all year. Buck is 6'4" but he plays MUCH bigger than that. He's an excellent on the ball defender and does a very good job defending SF's. He's also one of the main reasons Kobe sucked against the Mavs in all 4 games last year. He won't give you 20 points off the bench but he does bring a very solid defensive game and a ton of energy. I personally think he'd be an excellent backup to Cat or even your starting SF. If the Rockets don't get him just keep an eye on him in Philly and remember I told you so.
Our frontcourt is set. We don't need Rashard and I'd rather have Griffin or Nachbar over him. Plus he's asking for too much. We just need a defensive G/SF.
I would trade Taylor and Nachar for Lewis. The salary might match with a sign and trade. We get rid of a big contract and log jam at the power forward and we also get an upcoming potential star at the small forward. Nachar might turn out to be good but he is unproven at this time. Lewis on the other hand had improve each year since he had been in the league and had prove himself that he belong here in the league. Hopefully, he can continue to improve but I wouldn't mind taking a 21 year old small forward that can put up 17-18 ppg like he already did last year. On the other hand, Seattle might do the deal because they are getting a power forward and a promising small forward with potential (assuming Seattle don't want to pay Lewis the max and risk losing him if he sign with Houston for the middle level exception). I think our chance of getting into the playoff and win this year would be better with Lewis as he is farther along in his development than Nachar. I don't think that Lewis is worth the max at this time so the sign and trade deal will be somewhere around the salary of Nachar and Taylor combine.
Hope it wasn't something I said... I've read your stuff too... not bad... keep working on it. I can only go by what I read and since I only signed up to insider a few months back that is limited. But I can say Ford was one of the first people that I read who was praising Nachbar. He made a trip to europe and came back with some good and exclusive info about a player there was very little info on. At least from anyone outside of scouts... He also gave some good info on the draft.... talking about trades that were being discussed, most of which didn't happen. But he was right there with the Dice to NY deal. I am not talking pulitzer prize writing... I am talking information, something that was definitely lacking before the draft... including your friends at Fox... Burlinson (how can I say this kindly) was mostly a waste. His mock was pretty pathetic until the very end there.
Personally, I'm tired of hearing about Rashard. Yeah, we should've taken him, but we didn't. No use crying over spilt milk. He wants to come back? Sure, we'd take him back, but not for the kind of money he is demanding. We need to just forget about him and let our team gel. We have a great team, and bench, if we need anything it may be someone to bang inside and do the dirty work a la Otis Thorpe. It would be nice to have Rashard, but could he get along with Steve and Cuttino? I think that would simply be too many scorers and not enough scoring to go around. Lets be happy with what we have and move on. Pugs
For some reason, I like this team. I don't think we should add anyone to this roster. All we should do is get rid of the old fogies, and just this young run-and-gun squad. I think with the summer league, training camp, and preseason, it should be enough to gel this squad together. The idea of getting Lewis and spending all that money: well, it would be great and he would fit in fine, but I think it might be a waste. Now Buckner, he might be a nice fit. Could come in w/ the minimum accepted, and play some garbage minutes to give the SF's and the SG's some rest.
Screw Lewis. Why don't we wait and see what Nachbar can do for us this year. I personally think that Nachbar can be a better player than Lewis and he will come at a cheaper price. Lets see what our funky dancer can do.
