Can you get kicked out of the U.S.?

    If you are an American citizen can you do something so bad that you could get kicked out of this country? What would be so bad that the government would ban you from your homeland and not allow you to return?!?

    I have a friend who knows of someone that has a friend that had this happen to them (or so he says)? What do y'all think?

    What exactly did he do?

    I don't think you can lose your US citizenship against your will.

    However, I think you CAN lose it by becoming naturalized in another country or comitting and being convicted of, treason...

    Yeah I think you can lose it if you commit treason like x34 said. If you commit treason, aren't you usually put to death? You would definitely lose your citizenship then.

    I have no idea what this guy did... I don't know the guy and neither does my friend... I just thought it was weird that he was "kicked out of the country"... i think it's BS...

    I think I recall hearing that naturalized citizens can lose it if they lied about something on their paperwork (they probably find some kind of error if the person is convicted of a felony). I'm not certain.
