    Smooth Operator smoothly taken down.

All you have to do is watch Shane for 5 minutes on defense, than switch to Tracy. It is not "Rocket" science.

Not to mention that he defends the worst player on the floor in most cases...

Dirk is much slower than an average swing player. He isn't physical either. He doesn't run off a bunch of screens to get open. If you're long and athletic like McGrady, why would it take a lot of effort to guard him?

I don't want to diminish his defending of Dirk. Just trying to point out that his natural ability renders him a good matchup for Dirk on that end.

Again you're just making things up? Who did Battier guard? The offensively prolific Andrei Kirilenko? McGrady spent time on Brewer, Kirilenko, and Korver who got about the same minutes as Brewer. Guess it's so easy to grab 20% of the rebound from the 3 point line. And how does one steal the ball from someone who never gets it?

Flopitski is one of the best offensive players in the league, and McGrady was switched to him because he was destroying us.

You guys would have more credibility if you just said you don't like McGrady because of his off the court interviews, work out schedule or whatever. And, that you're just making statements because you don't like him. Pretending to have basketball knowledge just makes you look foolish.

On the court, McGrady has been the best player on the floor for the Rockets each season except for the last one.

Again, McGrady is a proven quitter. He has repeatedly thrown his teammates under the bus, and he has pissed on fans and management.

His effort, injured or not, has NEVER been consistent. He is mentally fragile.

He gets his stats, but he does not do what it takes to be an all-time great, he leaves that for others. Dirty work is necessary, and Tracy wants no part of it.

He is a low percentage jump shooter, that needs to have the ball in his hands to be effective. He plays mediocre defense on his best day, and lazy defense most of the time. He refuses to boxout his man, whether it be the playoffs, or regular season. It is extremely easy to get rebounds when everyone is boxing out for you. Despite this, his naturaly ability is unquestioned, but his head and heart certainly should be.

Pretty extreme statements that probably shouldn't be toted around as facts.

    Which statements exactly?

    The quitting?

    The teammate disrespecting?

    Or Pissing?

None of those guys are offensive threats. Why do you bring that up to try to sell us on his defensive prowess? They all get their points off attention being given to good offensive players.

He has been the best player on the court, on the offensive end. Don't insult us by trying to say he's been anything but mediocre at best defensively.

All right, I admit it. You got me. Korver's minutes are all based on his defensive talent.

My point is McGrady certainly isn't a hole on defense and is probably underrated. Battier was guarding the same guys in some cases why weren't his stats better than T-mac's?

I was also pointing out the rebounding is part of defense, and McGrady is exceptional there and not bad in other defensive categories. Sure Battier is better at getting a hand in the face, which is an important aspect of defense, but not the only one.

I'd say McGrady has been the best overall player combining all offensive and defensive impacts to winning. Some of you are acting like he's Novak on D.

You guys just don't like him. I can agree he says some unlikable things. I want to win, however, and he's our best chance. Trading him for Al Harrington or any of the other crap a lot of you suggest won't make us win. Tanking for the lottery doesn't usually work.

Why don't fans want to cheer for the best player on the team? Kobe can alledgedly rape a girl and doesn't seem to take as much heat as McGrady does for looking funny at his teammates.

I'd suggest some of you get some thicker skin. If what McGrady says injures you emotionally so much, maybe you're the crybaby.

That's funny because that is what I would suggest to Tracy.

And Maybe a thicker heart too...With a bit of hustle and a a touch of kneeburns...

Derrick McKey always seemed to have big games against the Rockets including this play:

"n the first round of the 1989 NBA Playoffs, McKey became a hero in Seattle with a last-second layup in the fourth and deciding game....Seattle and the Houston Rockets were knotted at 96 when Nate McMillan threw a perfect pass to McKey under the basket....McKey's bucket as time expired gave the Sonics the game and the series, three games to one"

Yao plays the softest by far, thou he works really hard and plays thru pain..
but nice guy just don't cut it.
Tmac is on the other hand, is just lazy. He's actually a top 10 player if he tries.. and very rarely does he try
He'll let his guy score on him and cracks a couple jokes with him be like .. "whatever man.. " Sort of like his cousin Vince lol
Wheras Yao Ming would slap his own head and curse out loud and whatnot in trying to fight his physical limitation.. but atleast Yao appears to care more.

Tmac doesnt care and Yao's incapable

Ok. Tmac has been a clown sometimes but during the streak and the playoffs fired up our team and tried really hard IMO. (mostly without the injured Yao)

This poll and thread fails because of the lack of Brian Cook option.

That is quite funny, even do not know if it is true or not. It sounds that we do not have any great players on the team.

Tmac is (was) a top 5 player talent wise, but he's lazy
Yao won't dominate games like Dwight Howard or Shaq, but he's a good team player and he gives you some effort at time
The two of them can't lead a team.. but if both are healthy and Ariza elevating his game, we should have enough to compete again next year
