In the end, JT will end up the better player than Chase. He has better raw, physical talent, and has just as good of a chance to be as good of a defender as he is offensive player. Chase, IMO, will never be the lead man on a team. JT has the potential to be that.
I personally think JT won't be on an NBA roster within 2 years. I think right now he's 85% as good as he can be. I think his ceiling is dominating college or being a D-League beast. Chase I don't think will ever be a lead player but I do think he can be a rotation player at least.
Anyone want to recall some of the comments predicting Landry's future? Some couldn't resist getting in their shots at AB while they were at it. And after the summer league: The haters never even heard of him. The few who watched him at Purdue, and could list his strengths and weaknesses, were the ones that did. Ignorance breeds hate. Taylor played at UCF. Unless we've got a bunch of hardcore college bball junkies here, the bashing is coming from people who have no clue about his game. Watching the summer league means jack squat.
I will withhold judgement until after 3 seasons, since that is usually how long it takes for people to break out unless they are special. I like his potential and athleticism though.
This is one of the best posts I have read in a long long time. All the guys you listed should all think twice before evaluating talent and questioning people that actually get paid to evaluate talent. Its hysterical to read read some of those posts about Landry. Im still laughing. Great post.

Yes DM, it is funny. You tend to have alot of knee jerk reaction here in the garm. Another funny one, was how tons of people sold David Anderson down the river after his first NBA game, thats been a huge laugher as well. There are some high volume posters in here who actually think they know much much more than Morey, Adelman and his scouts, I personally don't have Morey's abilities even though I have played, coached and studied basketball for most of my life. I have doughted Morey to end up being wrong once to often. Patience is a virtue, especially when it comes to young players.
Great Post. IDK what he's gonna turn out to be, but I'm going to give him a chance before a decide one way or another. At this point critical observations are appropriate ("he looks lost", "he doesn't know how to move without the ball", etc.) but judgements ("he'll never sniff meaningful minutes this year", "he sux", etc.) are just plain silly.

Given the Rockets' draft history up to that point, dismissing a second round pick wasn't exactly an unreasonable prediction. Morey was an unknown and any prognostications could only be made against the backdrop of the Rockets' previous horrendous track record. My glee and new found gold came in the fact that I actually watched Landry play in college and based very little on who was drafting (Dawson) him. I believe Morey is the one that drafted him. You were calling people out in your remarks about Landry and you were rediculously wrong in your non researched assessmnet of him.
Morey drafted him. The point was that I was basing it off of Dawson's foul track record, in Morey being new. The greater point seems to have flown completely over your head. What exactly are you trying to prove in pointing to a previous, completely unrelated discussion to make a point in a current discussion of which I haven't even taken part? No, you shouldn't be embarassed for having an opinion. This isn't about discrediting anyone. Like you said, being wrong is normal. I've been wrong many times. But Landry and Taylor had a very similar reception and I had to point it out. It's obvious that a lot of criticism stems from the fact that they were low profile players. We haven't seen him, therefore he must suck. If we drafted Tyler Hansbrough any opnion would be justifiable because everyone and their mother saw him play for years. A lot of people are watching Taylor play for the first time. These snap judgements about his career are based on nothing.
