Can't watch the games due to living out of town and online league pass not available (at least I still can't seem to activate it) for pre-season. It seems like he's rebounding awesome and stats look respectable overall but I would like to know from those that saw the actual games: 1) Does he still look lost on offense? 2) Does he still look lost when playing team Defense? 3) Does he have a positive impact when he's on the floor. 4) Do we think he can make the team.
Cook has looked slightly better. The Rockets would have been better off making an offer to Ratliff or bringing Mutombo back in. Dorsey's future might be in football.
Dorsey is a capable rebounder who knows how to put a body on people and box out. His offense will consist of nothing more than put-backs, scrap dunks and running the floor. But he can be a solid rotation player who can use his body to defend in the paint and get the loose balls of the rim for second-shot opportunities. I do think he can be of value to the team, though I don't know if the Rockets feel the same way.
Hate to point out the marginally obvious - BUT, if Pops makes the team, then it's unlikely that Dorsey will be there. So he wouldn't be playing for the Vipers (except by the coincidence that the Vipers themselves sign Dorsey?) Personally I'd rather Pops to Dorsey - let's just eat Dorseys guaranteed $0.8mill and be done with it?
I think Dorsey might currently be the Rockets best rebounder. If they don't keep him I'd hope Morey would be able to swing a trade for the rights to Patty Mills. Blazers don't need a fourth PG. Mills doesn't want to head over to Europe. He's also is recovering from a broken foot. They're still soft at PF with Aldridge, Outlaw (primary backup at PF this season), and JHo.
As much as I love Mills (yes, I'm an Aussie), what's the point in trading for him when we have Conroy? I thought Conroy would be let go by this team only to be picked up by someone else since he is solid as an NBA level talent off the bench? Oh how I wish Mills didn't break get injured, he could have been special. BTW: when will Jawai finally get to prove himself? He's better than David Andersen.
Dorsey is the best rebounder and shot blocker for the current team. I think he can contribute. He needs to control his fouls. Of course, he needs playing time to learn it.
Yep and that only comes with opportunity and this is the season to show it. I think Dorsey he looks to me like he would have a long jorneyman career always being in shape, the question comes will he ever learn the game or study it and see more minutes. He probably spends more time in the weight room then he does on the tube studying, which is not always a bad thing either atleast he is 1 season ahead of building his body up.
I think what your seeing with Andersen is that he is going to be effective against the weaker centers in the league. I'd consider Bogut a little above average and he did pretty well against him last night. However when we play the top flight centers Dorsey is going to play because Hayes isn't going to be able to handle the defensive/rebounding workload by himself.
Chuck Hayes is always have a plus for his defense.. David Andersen is getting comfortable with the offense and has a good jumper.. Pops Mensah-Bonsu has the aggressiveness for getting the rebound and Rick Adelman giving him more minutes than Dorsey.. so.. i don't think Dorsey will get through the roster..
he doesnt seem to be getting much playing time in preseason so im still not sure what to think of dorsey. wish he would play more.
