Theres no way we lose 50 to 55 games this season. Not make the playoff, not thats possible. But are team is way to talented and has way to much pride to not hover around 500. all season.
Really too early to call it. This team could really gel and be dangerous. My main concern with this team is size in the post. We have none and thats are glaring weakness. So I'll guess we'll see what comes of it.

I have a lot of faith in a team this gritty, tough, focused, and well coached. But I won't discount the OP. Fast break points may or may not lead to points. But not protecting the defensive glass will absolutely result in losses. Its simple, you give teams 2nd chances and you are a bad defensive team that can only win when it is shooting 40+% from the 3pt. So unless something sexy happens in the post we are susceptible to losing on any given night.

Above average players dont get triple doubles in 3 quarters of basketbal on a knee that requierd micro fracture surgery like mcgrady id against denver. he had anoher triple double as well.. so you fail.

Where do you see the talent? The Rockets are a scrappy, prideful bunch, yes, but there are too many role players pushed into lead roles.

There is no identity and no go-to player who we can depend on late in games or when the offense bogs down. It's not lookin' pretty.

I know the rockets have great chemistry and hustle, but frankly speaking, I think we are way too overrating our team because of Game4, Game6 versus Lakers.

guys, don't forget the game5, game7. It is 82 games long for a season. There is a limitation for a team to fight with only hustle.

Players' production and abilities are not static from year to year, especially when they're young and improving. You can't just take a player's production from last year and use it to predict what will happen this year in a different situation, when the player has a different role on the team. The Rockets have a number of young players who are on the improving side of their careers. There also are other factors that will impact their won-loss record this year, such as how T-Mac fares in his return from injury, and potential moves Morey will make during the season. Predicting this team's won-loss record with any degree of certainty is like playing darts in the dark.

Don't get your hopes too high. I wouldn't be suprised if we didn't make the playoffs. Sometimes even 45 wins are not enough.

Isn't our record without Yao better than our record without T-Mac not including last year?

Uh, the year we had Yao for about 30 games or something, and he was beasting all of the time, getting 25-10, and guess what, our record was 32-50 or something abysmal like that. This team lacks a star, let alone a superstar. I'm putting this team's wins at 20-30 at best.

I have to admit that I agree with OP.
If the team plays without a healty t-mac, they will definitly struggle.

RA's system seems to take around 30-40 games to let the players to adjust and figure out how to play, especially the clutch time. Remember last year, and the year 2007-2008 before the 22-win streak, even with a health Yao-t-mac combo, we were around 50-50.

Yao and Mac is the type of 2nd tier players you put around a guy like LeBron to be very good 60+ win team. With just Mac this season count on hitting the 10th seed at best.

Never understood why Rockets have never made a significant push to aquire a 1st tier type player to put Yao and Mac around. Now there should be no excuses we have all the expirings and youth to do a Garnett lite type move or 2. I predict that it will happen it's bound to especially when you factor in the 2nd tier duo will never get younger.

Ok so lets be realistic, there really isn't any 1st tier player to go after that seems like a shot anyways.

We will finish with 38 wins at best. It's kinda hard to cheer for a bunch of role players just knowing the same thing could happen again next year that has already happened before and that is being let down, yet again.

Yao and Mac is the type of 2nd tier players you put around a guy like LeBron to be very good 60+ wins, with just Mac this season expect no better then 38 wins and 10th seed at best. Why Rockets never made a push for a 1st tier player is no more excuses this season we have the assets, the ultimate problem however is, there really is no 1st tier player we can pick up anyways.
So expect the same out come next season as to what we have already seen in the past and that is be let down with no higher expectations then to have a healthy squad atleast which will ultimately lead to another let down in the end.

This kind of mind set the last 4 season does not cut it with me. Morey needs to really shake things up before it's really to late while the duo ages. Owners have a tendency to really lie to themselevs and their ticket holders about how good the team really is. Gotta sell them tickets.

They simply over achived the last 2 seasons. The problem every season is health, yet every season that is important, but that's not really the key problem then when they get healthy we run into another set back. This is the problem and every year fans pin expectations to high and they ultimately fail in the end. Am i being too nagative? no i'm speaking the truth, it is what it is and 3 more years of this? No thanks !!
