China vs Australia: 07/03 7:30 am Houston time

    summary:

    China vs Italy: 65-82
Yao Ming: 28 points. Highlight: He hits the basket when he was sitting on the floor.

    China vs Yugoslavia: 92-78
Yao Ming: 27 points. Highlight: He scored 3/3 3 points

Australia has defeated Italy and Yugoslavia (both are lack of some star players). In 2001 Eastern Asian games, Australia defeated Chinese National Team twice.

Chinese fans who can watch today's game please give more detail information of Yao Ming's performance. Rebound, block, assist, steal......

Australian fans please dig the faster and more professional reports on Australian media (Chinese media sucks).

Yao ming played 30- 35 minutes in the first two games. In the first game, he rested at the fourth quarter (or most time of fourth quarter). China lost Italy from 50-55 (third quarter) to 65-82.
In the second game, Bateer is Ming's backup.

From some people said on this forum, he played well, but people still expect more.

I only hope he is not injuried in these games.

Man, back-to-back-to-back games. The Chinese team better rest him if they are way ahead or way behind.

Good News: Yao Ming is alive.
Bad news: Yao Ming is a loser.

    China-Australia 68:82 ( half time 36:33).
It's pretty much like China's first game versus Italy. In the middle of 3rd quarter, China had the biggest lead 50-39. But Australia came back really quick and played pretty well in the 4th quater. I think the Chinese coach did nothing to stop the opponent's offense.

Australia Rallys to Defeat China 82-68

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Xinhuanet 2002-07-04 00:19:22

¡¡¡¡TAIYUAN, Shanxi Province, July 4 (Xinhuanet) -- The new-branded Australian team won the third consecutive game by defeating China 82-68 on Wednesday at the four-nation men's basketball invitation here.

¡¡¡¡Australia, who failed to qualify for the World Championships due to losses to New Zealand, beat Yugoslavia, Italy and China in row to win the tournament.

¡¡¡¡Italy beat the winless Yugoslavia 79-69 in earlier match to winthe second places, while China, led by NBA top pick Yao Ming and Denver Nuggets center Menk Bateer, finished third with one win andtwo losses.

¡¡¡¡Yao scored nine points and 10 rebounds while Bateer eight points and six rebounds in Wednesday's match. China lost ground toAustralia on the board, with the visitors stealing 24 offensive rebounds from the two big guys.

¡¡¡¡"The top pick doesn't mean he is good enough. Yao Ming needs more improvement to play the best of the world," said Wang Fei, China's head coach.

¡¡¡¡"We beat them on the board. We are the best defensive team in the tournament," said Australian head coach Brian Goorjian.

¡¡¡¡The four teams will move to Dongguan, Guangdong province, tomorrow to continue the two-stop tournament. Enditem

It's just a coach who is trying to save face. There's no way HIS ineptitude allowed the national team to lose at home.
