As I see this draft, there are a lot of good players, but there will be a lot of BUSTS. Miller is a good player, but is he the savior for a franchise. I don't see it. Francis is the man to carry this team, but he needs help and that's exaclty what this draft is for. So who to get, there are the Sure picks but even then there are question marks. Will Martin heel? Does Mihm play NBA calibur ball or will he be another Reeves? Is Swift for real or will he soon become a wift in the air? Fizer is too short and can become another Battier (one good season). Miller was benched during critical points in basketball games. Miles isn't even the best high school player this year. Demar Johnson did nothing with Cinci. after Martin went down. Alexander is a repetitive position for the Rockets. Peterson doesn't fit the Rockets. It's a toss up. But I say draft Etan Thomas, the next Karl Malone!!! Okay so here are my thoughts, why move up to get so many question marks. Maybe move out of the top ten get an extra pick plus get Etan Thomas, my personal favorite. He is a real player. That's ma tke an um stckng 2 it. ------------------
What did you study at 'Cuse? Thomas is a nice player but not at #9. I'm starting to like Pryzbilla (I've read two good,no great, reports about his workouts)Stevenson or Alexander even though they don't fill a need.... except to IMPROVE OUR ROTATION. ------------------ There are 3 kinds of people: those who can count and those who can't.
Thats why he suggested trading DOWN to get Etan, not at number 9. I like the move if we get a good player ------------------ Don't sweat the petty things, and don't pet the sweaty things!
I would like to get Miller or Miles because they seem to be the Rockets need. The Wizard is great at small forward but the Rockets could use a young, quick, athletic sf. My pick is leaning towards Miller because he is more of a passer than Miles, the Rockets already have their scorers so adding another passer would help them. ------------------ THE DEAN HAS WRITTEN [This message has been edited by DEANBCURTIS (edited May 25, 2000).]
Miller was benched at certain times of the game because Florida coach Billy Donovan had a set rotation that he stuck with no matter what. Etan Thomas can be a nice defensive force but has very little offensive game. Somewhat of a shorter version of Cato. Right now I would choose either Swift, Miller, or Miles. ------------------
How about Demarr Johnson? He's a quick, athletic, young sf. I haven't heard his name mention much. ------------------
Etan Thomas...the next Karl Malone?!? I have to assume you're kidding. Thomas doesn't have an offensive game. You may accurately point out that Malone was also limited coming out of La. Tech. Now, Malone is the best power forward in league history. But just because Malone developed a certain way, I won't get giddy over every 6'9" power forward that comes out with a similar scouting report. If that was the case, I would expect the same out of Alan Henderson or Jason Caffey or Mark Bryant or Harvey Grant or JR Reid. IMO, it should be "Etan Thomas, the next Antonio Davis." Maybe you see more in Thomas than I've seen, but I wouldn't take him until the end of the first. I'd vote for Jerome Moiso as the surprise. Some say he will go in the lottery, but Andy Katz at ESPN.com says he'll go mid-to-late first round. If so, the team picking him will get a Rasheed Wallace type player, minus the technicals (maybe). ------------------
