I just had to read the book for summer reading, and it was great. The use of symbolism was amazing. I really enjoyed the complex structure that the book was written in. For those of who have read the book, how do you think the novel would have changed if a group of girls were stranded under the same condition. My friend says it would not change since evil is inherent in all humans, male or female. I think the novel would be different, since girls are gentler by nature. So what do you think? And also, what is a motif, in literary terms?
I think that the girls would just have night after night of eating coconuts, playing coconut Super Nintendo, and having orgies. And monkey butlers
Girls would have just teased the weaker group until they went insane with depression and killed themselves. BTW, did you know that the lord of the flies (Beelzebub) is one of the names givin to Satan.
