Why couldn't you have posted this in the week 6 thread? There are two parallel convos going on about the same damn topic.
Because people might see the week 6 thread and think that people are still talking about the actual games and not the rankings.
Texas controls its own destiny, but I'm afraid the Horns are going to slip up somewhere along the road. Texas' lack of a ground game is going to be tough to overcome in close games. I don't understand why Texas can't establish a solid rushing attack with the stable of talented backs and the all-conference, behemoths on the the offensive line.
Not sure who thinks like that - we have been continuing our rankings discussion in the Week X college football thread every week this season.
That's kind of a "catch all" thread from the title... I wouldn't be surprised when people start threads about specific things that interest them during the week.
Yeah, it's worth pointing out that Texas is #2 in the two human polls that actually matter. With that said, all of this is irrelevant since Florida/Alabama will play each other.
Doesn't really matter at this point, if anything it will fire us up. Win out and we are in the national championship. AP pool doesnt mean anything anyways. Just gotta focus on next week and kick OU's ass. Hook em.
If Texas doesn't start playing football in the 1st half, they won't be in the B12 championship game let alone the BCS championship game.
This was expected.. I knew we would pull out the game last night... but that first half was just mediocre against a mediocre team. But yeah, It doesn't really matter... SEC Championship game should settle it between those two teams assuming all three go undefeated.
It is a likely scenario that is Texas loses one, and undefeated Bama-Florida play a tightly contested SEC championship game (let's say Bama beats FL 13-10), The Florida team would still be ranked above the other one-loss teams and make the NC game become a rematch of SEC championship game. I hope it wouldn't happen for Texas' sake, but it's interesting to think about..
the game of college football is great. but everything else about college football sucks. except cheerleaders.
I doubt it. It didn't happen for Michigan-Ohio State when they were 1-2, and I just don't see the voters letting it happen this year. We'll see, though. Lots of football to be played. And if some of these big 12 teams can stay ranked (KU,OSU, OU) then the Texas schedule will have some beef to carry them in the rankings.
Problem is, if UT beats OU, OSU, and KU, all 3 of them likely drop out of the rankings...especially oU since it would mean 3 losses.
