Not to help contribute to a "Troll Thread" but having Cat come off the bench is not exactly a novel idea. He used to do it, and do it well. His role used to be similar to the Microwave's or our very own Sam Cassell. There is SOME merit to having him come off the bench to spell Steve, INSTEAD of having Mooch spell SF. The Rockets play a lot of 2 man offense. Where 2 guys are the designated shooters and everyone else stands around. When Steve Francis is not part of the 2 man game he really looks lost. Actually they all look lost, but especially Steve. Having Cat on the bench places the onus on Francis, on every possession. Maybe that sharpen his mental focus while in the game. In either case, my starting 5 at the beginning of the season: SF Cat MoT/KT Rice/TMo Cato Backing them up: Tito - 6'4 OT/Savovic - 6'6 (SIGN HIM ROCKETS) Nachbar - 6'10 Griffin - 6'10 Collier/Yao - 7'5 That is a LOT of height (blocked shots), better ball movement, shooting versatility, rebounding and more D from front court to back court.
This is the way the Rockets season will go down: For starters Francis Mobley Rice Thomas Cato This is the starting five for the first five games. Then Mo Taylor comes back and Cato will have some ailment by this time, be it bruised wrist or ego, or lower back strain. Francis/Norris Mobley/Nachbar/Francis Rice--/Griffin/Nachbar Taylor/Thomas/Griffin Ming/Cato Nachbar will be brought along off the bench for the first year, but will be active in the rotation. Once Rice pulls some fat then Nachbar will split even time with Griffin. Griffin is still one year away from being able to physically handle the PF position.

Welcome aboard! Yes you are correct that you are entitled to your opinion but it would be better for discussion if you backed up your opinion with how you came to whatever opinion you express. Just a bit of advice.....
I am soo thankful that this post has been shot down for the most part. Nachbar will NEVER be able to defent a SG, he's damn near 6'10". He doesn't have the quicks Mobley has so if Mobley gets lite up what do you think would happen to Nachbar. I'm really high on Bostjan b/c I think he'll make a great SF and that's it. The Mobley hate must stop! He's the best pure SCORER we have and he likes playing here so much that he took peanuts to stay.
Very few players drafted have enough skills to start in the NBA. We hope we get lucky and our first two picks are of that calibre. . . .Watching Rudy over the years suggests he will bring the rookies along slowly. . . .and when a slump or more likely injury opens a door then a starting role may develop. Mobley, Francis and Moochie. . .give us one of the best backcourt rotations and we have gotten some great results when all three are on the court. I hope Mobley & Francis start every game they are healthy. As for Yao Ming. . ..I happen to think that one unintended consequence of his Drafting might be to spur Cato on to further improvement. Remeber when the predictions were he would someday lead the league in Blocks. . . .Let's root for the Rockets to pull a Nets. . .
Why do all of your people talk about what position each of the new rockets will play? I mean its good to do that, but damn, we havent even started the season yet. I think When the season starts, and as each person progresses and finds a fit in the team, Rudy T. will find a postion for each of the Rockets. (peacefully, unless we decide to trade) Every Person will have an oportunity to showcase there talents evenly, and you should rest your faith that Rudy T. will make the right decisions.
Why in the HELL would you want to bench Mobley, when he is a starting 2??? Nachbar is a starting 3....so for this stupid thread being started, it needs to be SHUT DOWN!!! SUCH A WASTE!!
