Novak had a 40% FG in his first summer league season. He couldn't even dunk or drive back then.

Ok I see where he shots lights out in preseason. But Steve Novak never had great BB IQ, he couldn't move without the ball. He couldn't drive and dunk. He couldn't catch an alley oop pass. Novak never hard the court vision or smart passing.

They only thing they have in common is that that are white and have 3pt range.

Chase is a good passer and moves well without the ball. That bodes well in Adelman's system. If (big if) does blossom (a nice pun for a guy named "Bud") into a Peja-like career under Adelman, that would be an absolute steal from the second round.

He has more tools than Peja, but is a bit shorter....Chase can put it on the floor and finish at the rim.....things Peja can not do...

They are similar in the way they move without the ball, but Chase is also a better passer and more court aware than Peja is.

I guess Chase has a little bit of a lot of people's games.....Peja, Brent Barry, Reggie Miller, Rip Hamilton.

So, maybe, in 10 years we will be saying....that rookie looks a little like Chase Budinger.

I think Chase is going to be a VERY good player.....and has the most upside of any 2nd round pick I have seen on the Rockets since Calvin Murphy, and more than most first round picks.

So far, he has been the best player on the court for the Rockets, and that includes EVERYONE on the team.

Chase has good ball control, but can't really cross someone over.

I think if you give him time, he'll be a good rebounder.

Obviously his shooting is very very good.

But, again this is just preseason.

He could turn out to be Eric Pitswoski (SP?).

If we have to choose a white player to compare him to, he's more like a swingman verison of Luke Walton with more hops than passing ability. Not Steve Novak.

I think Chase will have more potential next season when Yao is healthy. He needs the space.

Chase is actually a very good rebounder given his standing vert alone. If he became more aggresive on the boards he'd be scary good.

Would you say he is a better passer than Steve Novak?

Yeah, I can see a little bit of the comparison...nice vid.....I stand corrected.

However, I think Chase has a better handle.

He reminds me a lot of Michael Jordan. Sorry, that sounded absurd, let me clarify - he reminds me a lot of Michael Jordan from 1991-1994. I think he has a chance to go down as the greatest ever.

    LOL.

If I had to pick a player from the Dream Team he reminds me of, I'd go with Chris Mullin.

Oops ... another white player comparison.

Depends on who got the rebound after those misses. If there were offensive rebounds, put backs and/or others making the shot off of those misses then your point about volume doesn't matter as much. Just presenting another point of view.

But it wouldn't be Shane's fault whether they got second-chance opportunities or not. Shane would have done his job as an elite defender--for the shooter to miss.
