What's amazing about Earl in his prime is his long speed -- he had burst and massive power out of the hole, but once he got his full stride few could catch him.
do you recall the play Barry made where he got to the open field and had to beat a safety and another defender (possibly a CB) and he used this killer fake where he made a small cut one way, changed directions and then as soon as the defender turned his body, Barry cut back to his original path and the two defenders cut so twisted up that they ran right into each other and neither one never got a finger on Sanders? I've tried to find that highlight on youtube for a while, no luck.
Is it the one against the Patriots where he gets the safety turned around twice and his final juke leaves the safety so confused he ends up just kind of giving up?
that might be it. I thought it was against the jets, and two defenders being so focused on Barry they ran right into each other..... I haven't seen the clip in many years, but I kinda remember watching it as if Barry was planning and orchestrating the whole collision about 20 yards before it actually happened. maybe it wasn't sanders?!?
Maybe it was Dylan... <object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/h83EYvyqaqc&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/h83EYvyqaqc&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object> Greatest RB ever. I like how the adult male just moves the young lads around like chess pieces.
Barry should be number one but if you were going to put someone in front of him Jim Brown would be the one. And another thing TD should be some where on that list hes the only RB to rush for over 2,000+ yards and 20+ TDs in the same season.

That video was like a real life version of electronic football, including the out of control ball runner.
So, while living in Houston, you watched Detroit Lions games? And the rest of us just watched highlights? Did you have some sort of NFL Sunday Ticket or something back then?
I saw him in two -three games per year for a decade. I'd think that was a good enough sampling to form an opinion. You don't?
I've been watching NFL football for about 28 years and I can honestly say that the best running back I've seen play is Adrian Peterson. I don't think anyone has/had the tools he does. And I watched him break the single game NFL rushing record as a rookie.
Wow.. He's had 14 fumbles since 2007. He's def. fun to watch but I highly doubt a rookie LB would rip the ball out of the hands of Walter Payton or any other rb on that list. Except Adrian. Who shouldn't be on that list. Yet.
Best RBs ever is a great discussion. Best SINGLE RB ever? Very short discussioin. Barry Sanders. We're done.
