No doubt Hayesfan will be the happiest person in this community when she read this article. So our starting center will be Chuck Hayes along with Brooks, Ariza and Scola. Who will get the last starting position?

[rQUOTEr]“He's really important to have on the floor for us,” Rockets coach Rick Adelman said. “I'm pretty sure he's going to be on the floor a lot because he's our best defender. There is nobody on our team close to him as far as defending inside.”[/rQUOTEr]
[rQUOTEr]The most obvious change, however, can be heard, rather than seen. With Yao out, Hayes has been with the Rockets longer than anyone and has evolved into an unmistakably vocal leader.
“That's his personality,” Adelman said. “It's his fifth year. I believe he feels comfortable saying what he feels. He always put the effort out. He gets so much out of what he's got. For an undersized person, he does so much on the floor. Guys respect what he does. They will listen to him.”[/rQUOTEr]
Coach really has great expectation on him. I think there's a mistake here, with Yao out, TMac is the longest active Rockets I believe. I am very excited to see him made 2 consecutive free throws via the PbP yesterday. I hope he contribute more on the offensive end and make his opponents play some honest defence.

[rQUOTEr]In the past, Hayes often bit his tongue. When he addressed the team after a particularly bad loss to Philadelphia in the 2007-08 season, his comments were considered surprising, given that he rarely spoke up. A few games later, the Rockets began their 22-game winning streak.[/rQUOTEr]
This is the first time I heard the story, I  !

Well, T-mac's (always) hurt, though, so I guess Chuck has been with the team the longest out of all the players right now. As for the last starting job, I think it's going to be Shane when he's healthy, and Chase when not.

I saw him drive with the ball last game. I hope to see less of that.

well if we are really gonna be more of a run and gun type of team i think its ok if hayes starts.

but its really gonna be intersting how our starting 5 would do against big teams like boston, orlando, cleveland etc...who also have a stockpile of centers??????DAMN........

Chuck will do great as the starting center.
I would much rather have him there than Andersen because of his experience and defense.

    Go Hayes!

I'm sure this has less to do with Hayes being a capable starting center, and more to do with the fact that we have no capable starting centers on this team.

I feel Morey made the correct decision in not just go for a short term fix, but unfortunately it's going to be painful for now.

Is there a children's story hidden in all this? Maybe the story will be called "The Littlest Center and the Giant's Shoes."

We're going to pay the price very soon. Hayes (6-6) can guard anyone but no offense. Anderson (6-11) has offense, but poor defense and too soft. Just wish we had Pachulia, who is a real center.

In regards to the fast paced offense, do you think Hayes can run?

I thought they mights start Scola and Landry.........

I expect Adelman will be switching lineups a lot this year.

I think that might be a good idea, but what about our bench? Landry adds some scoring off the bench.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, we are going to get crushed in the paint...repeatedly. Chuck is our best on ball post defender, but he is, imo, not physically equipped talentwise to truly "anchor" a defnense. I'm happy for him, personally, as he fought and scratched his way into the NBA and is now a starter. However from the perspective of rebounding and protecting the paint, we need someone bigger, better and hopefully humble enough to learn from our very own Chuck Hustleman Hayes.

Adelman's strength is his flexibility when it comes to lineups, Scolandry will definitely be together at times, but his decision to start with Chuck is correct.

We simply don't have another choice for now, unless we acquire another center via trade.

With a little bit of fortitude I could see Hays turning into a Ben Wallace-type of player underneath the rim.

havent been a member for a long time, but i have been saying it to everyone i know. Chuck Wagon is an awsome basketball player. Defensivley his feet are the quickets in the ENTIRE leauge. His hands Swipe, and 90% of the time, he hits ALL ball. Awsome character guy, and will do a great job. Thats why i believe that our trade chip is carl landry. Carl is awsome, but IF we decide to give him up we dont lose almost anything on D, while hopefully getting more on offense. Go chuck !

Can't sees whats wrong with him starting. We already seen Hayes starting alongside Yao, so why not have him starting alongside Scola?

And Coach A have already stated that it all depends on match up. Hence a lot of rotation will be seen.

He is short, in fact he gives up at least 3 inches every single game, but who would you rather have to defend those big centers like Shaq? Hayes or Scola/Landry/Anderson/Dorsey/Pops.

Question, I vividly remember Scola playing center for Argentina during a tournament that feature the US team. Who guarded Dwight? Him or someone else from the Argentina Squad?
