All the defensive categories are pretty bad. I think Morey was right when he said defensive players are the most undervalued. This survey shows that most GMs don't know squat about what makes a good defensive player.
Lakers with the third best home-court advantage? That's complete bull. They may have a decent home record, but their crowd is crap compared to places like Portland, Boston, and Golden State.
He's considered the 3rd best best overall in the league... Also, it's funny that Yao is ranked as the 3rd best interior defender, but doesn't even get one vote for best center.
Yeah, LA is not really hard place to play in, except the team on the floor. I would've picked Utah and Portland by a mile, with Boston and Golden State trailing.
Agreed. It's fun watching the Warriors and Thunder at home, almost no matter who they are playing. Those fans love their teams and show it with gusto every game. Sometimes I laugh at the Thunder crowd. Seriously.
I have a problem with Ron Artest getting the 'toughest' player nod. Don't you need some mental toughness as well? Even if it was all physical I don't see how they can just automatically put Ron at the top, there are plenty of tough guys in the league that fight through injuries and play.
The Laker games they showed on espn last year at Warriors they cheered the Lakers alot more then the Warriors. OKC on the other hand they still have a good home court even though they suck.
I don't how Ray Allen still gets votes for being a pure shooter. He hasn't been a lights out shooter in years. Steve Nash is the best shooter in the NBA. He can hit from any spot on the floor. His hot zone charts are just unreal.
NBA GM Survey Defense Results http://www.nba.com/news/features/gmsurvey.defense/index.html While I am sure we can all admit Kobe plays a solid defense but "best perimeter defender" and "best on-the-ball defender"? The BS after the running of the bulls is less then what I am seeing. Heck, most of the time Kobe defends guys that get tired out from defending him and not the best offensive player on the team. In a game with the Miami Heat, you'd only see Kobe defend against Wade for a total of 10 minutes, unless he can psyche out the other player or they themselves are tired from trying to shut down his usual offensive onslaught, he hands that job off to your Ariza or currently Artest. And I like Ron, but other then being strong able to handle some power forwards, he doesn't have jack on Shane Battier in all around defense. Heck, how he got over Garnett in that category is strange as well. They must be taking injuries into consideration.
