Raid Volume Degraded Because of Missing Missing Hard Drives

    I have a Raid 1 hard drive configuration. Two 320GB drives.

    Got home from work today and my PC was completely frozen. I shut it down the hard way, waited a few seconds and rebooted. It then locks up very early in the reboot. I repeat and it boots up but in lower right-hand taskbar, I notice the colors of my raid icon are grey & red. Putting the mouse over it gives the message: A RAID volume is degraded because of missing hard drives. When I click on it to start up the Intel Matrix Storage

    What do I do now? Is it as simple as plugging in a new hard drive of equal or greater size? How do I know which hard drive to pull out and replace?

    Not really enough info- it's hard to diagnose these things without specific models, errors, etc.

    I would start, though, with getting the same model drive. If you unplug one and plug it in, and the RAID array rebuilds, then you pulled the right one out.

    Good thing you had Raid 1 and not Raid 0...At least you don't lose any data..

    I'm pretty sure if you replaced the non working drive, you would have a nonfunctional system so that should be a process of elimination I would think...

    Then again wtf do I know...
