Ha ha ha ha. I can see the thread title now, "Francis holds dick wrong: Is he worth the max?" And the post to go with it:

"Now we have all read Clutch's post. You know, the one where the insider saw francis holding it wrong while taking a piss. Unbelievable, how immature can this guy be? Everybody knows you're supposed to use 2 hands. What's next, are he and Cat gonna have a piss sword fight? He is so freakin immature and stupid. It's bad enough that he didn't go to Monsignor Genteel's Etiquette Clinic like the team wanted him too. If he had gone, his pee in the drain to splash back ratio would be so much better. But noooooooo, Mister I'm the Franchise, doesn't think he needs take care of his problem. That's why we need to get Miller, he always flushes and wipes up any mishaps."

A stress test is involved, aha !!! Then I completely understand why Francis has not gone until July.

If you are reading this Steve, I apologize, now take care of it in July when your shoulder can take the stress test.

    Francis' agent eyes max
    By JONATHAN FEIGEN

The Rockets started their free-agent recruiting period with a call to Steve Francis' agent on Monday, but the slam-dunk signing of Francis to a contract extension might not be quite as uncomplicated as sending a contract and asking Francis to fill in the blanks.

Francis has said his plan was to sign an extension -- covering six years beginning with the 2003-2004 season -- under the assumption the Rockets would offer the maximum allowed under the collective bargaining agreement. That contract would be worth between $88 million and $95 million depending on the next salary cap.

But Francis' agent, Jeff Fried, indicated he does expect the contract to be worth as much as the Rockets are permitted to offer and that they still will need to talk.

When asked if it will take the maximum contract to sign Francis, Fried said no other contract has been considered.

"Internally, our discussions have been based on the max," he said. "We're not planning on less. We don't believe that question will have to be asked."

Fried said answers about the direction of the Rockets would not necessarily determine whether Francis agrees to a long-term extension but that the occasion is cause to have such talks.

"Everyone wants a winning team," Fried said. "Steve and I will get together and talk about that. The financial standpoint is one thing. We're talking about the prime and bulk of a player's career. Steve is three years a Houston Rocket. He thinks the world of the organization. That's a real positive."

The Rockets have until the start of the season to reach an agreement with Francis, and no other team can negotiate with him until July 2003 if he remains unsigned. Fried said he expected to meet with Rockets general manager Carroll Dawson within the next 10 days.

Damn! Another agent is looking to make our situation harder. I think I know how this went down. Francis said he didn't need an agent. Players from around the league and the union called him and where all like, "don't be stupid man, you need an agent or you'll get screwed." So this agent is gonna want the biggest pay day for steve. Obviously he stands to make the most if he sticks with the Rockets, but if he goes to a larger market team, he'll get the exposure needed for even more lucrative endorsements. Damn leeches.

I don't anticipate any problems, but quotes from agents in the Chronicle remind me of Fegan and just make my stomach plummet. I hope Steve/Steve's agent doesn't pull anything funny. I don't see why Steve needs an agent if he just wants to talk with Rudy and CD about where this team is going.

If the agent gets too callous, trade him for Andre Miller, this team would be fine with either Francis or Miller at the point.

I think Cleveland's drafing of Wagner indicates that they aren't willing to pay for the contract that either Miller OR Francis will get. The only way we could get Miller is in a three way deal.

So, once Steve signs this extension on the 17th, the Steve haters will have no choice but to root for another team, which will lead to less traffic on the BBS, which will lead to better BBS speed and performance and not having the search function disabled once a week.

See, Steve signing here benefits EVERYONE!

Has any of the Francis haters have stoped and think about how many more assists Steve will get with Mobley, Nachbar, Taylor, and Ming on the floor at the same time? All of those guys can shoot!

    Rocketeer,

I am salivating at the prospect of all those shooters for Steve to pass the ball to, if he does not pass it this year, then we KNOW there is a problem.

I say we give him less money this year, because who knows how well he will be. If this surgery affects his play this year we wouldn't have given him a bunch of money for a 60% Steve Francis.

Maybe this would allow us to sign Rashard.

Trade Kt and Rice to Sixers for Aaron Mckie. (a workhorse and defensive stopper)

The Rockets aren't gonna sign him without Steve passing a physical. You guys should read the paper every now and then, Steve's migraines are down, he's going to the Mayo clinic this July, and Keith Jones said that Francis' shoulder will be fine because he has so much muscle around it. Also, we can't give him less money this year, he is still under contract through next season. If we don't give him the max now, then we have to try and re-sign him as a free agent after next year.
