I was, for some reason, of the impression that if an underclassman didn't withdraw their name by the 21st and was selected in the draft. They could not return to the NCAA. I keep reading about players returning to college if they don't like where they are picked. Now this might be true if they don't have an agent and wasn't drafted. Someone straighten me out on this, please..

They have to withdraw by the date that you mentioned, in order to return. If they don't, their rights are going to be owned by whatever team that drafts them and their college eligibility is over.

    Da Man,

A further question in that area.

S Swift probably doesn't want to go to the Clips. He probably will not hire an agent to leave his escape clause intact to get back into the college game. He and his family alone will have to monitor activity from NBA teams as far as trades, draft positions and stated intentions on whom a team will draft?

As long as he doesn't hire any one, I pretty sure he can solicit advise from family members, coaches, and whomever. But he has to withdraw the week before the draft.

There is really no way he can guarantee not going to the Clips. Heck, Jerry "The Sleuth" Krause called Steve the night before the draft, telling him some positive stuff. How will it be better if he stays another year in school? The Clips will be right back there in the lottery.

The ninth pick in the NBA 2000 draft goes to... The Cleveland Cavaliers....not.

    Thanks Da Man
Though I had it right, but was starting to doubt myself and it had changed.
