This is where a public outcry is warranted. OK, you might get off with "policy" with the accidental shooting.

But the dragging cover-up would get any of us an attempted murder charge.

For example: Let's say we go hunting. I mistake you for an extremely large orange deer, and I shoot you. OK, accidents may happen.

However, if I drag you to an undisclosed spot. Hell, if I do anything other than call people to get help, I am allowing a possible murder at my hands to happen.

That is attempted murder, and there really isn't a "gray area" either.

Who cares about the money? The guy deserves to get paid but whether he does or not doesn't affect the community either way. And even a multimillion dollar settlement will be taken out of insurance or other funds and wont really impact the lives of normal citizens.

There needs to be an indictment so the public gets these ****ty cops off the roll. You cant have jittery, incompetent, and criminal cops out there shooting homeowners and falsifying evidence this **** is wack

Damn shame........but you cannot convince me that things like this don't happen more often.

Especially to people who are of Hispanic or African descent......sickening how this man's family had to watch him be abused. The ironic thing is that the homeowner did the right thing, he called the police when he could have simply shot the intruder.

And, I'm sure that these cops will not face any jail time......maybe a suspension (w/ pay of course)

Stuff like this pisses me off to no end. You know this happens more often than you think. Not as much as the TV shows, etc. And not always as dramatic as this. But on the smaller stuff I'm sure it happens often.

    So true.

When I read the title of the thread I thought it might be some 3rd world country. Can't believe this kind of stuff still happens here.

I can't comprehend how this is not attempted murder.

Inexcusable by the officers. They deserve prison time.

But I'm more fascinated by the guy surviving being shot 6 times! Twice while he was already down? Then dragged around?

I'm confused about why he was dragged around and then put on the hood of the car. When did they actually bring him to the hospital?

the other deadly failure of policy is the break down of communication between the first officer and the shooting officer. it's pretty important to know that the homeowner has a gun and is holding the burglar.

what's ironic is that the homeowner had more restraint with the gun then the cop.

We live in an Orwellian police state. Cops are supposed to be servants of the public. This is why it is far better to own a gun and handle your **** yourself than call the cops. If I am in that spot I am holding the guy at gunpoint, then calling a buddy over to bring some rope and duct tape to tie the guy up, then calling the cops after that.
