Last one of these for a while. Remember, no PBP in these threads and keep the chatter on topic (if it is about something other than this series, talk about it in another thread).

Watching the Phillies series this week made me remember the Stros pennant chases from 95-06...almost every year it went down to the wire except for 2000 and I think 2002 but besides that it was awesome.

    I MISS PLAYOFF BASEBALL!!!

Astros finish the year with a Wilton Lopez start. Thats a brutal way to end a year.

WWW. Astros sweep mets. Tejada gets 200 hits, ends year with a .315 batting average. Bourn steals 3 bases and leads league with 64.

Hitters' eyes light up when Brocail takes the mound.

I could have sworn I saw Charlie Casserly sitting in the front row behind home plate.

Was at the game tonight. The wind was howling and it was freezing. I had a Biggio jersey t-shirt on, but never got to take my jacket off to rep. :(

At least we kept it interesting until the 8th inning.

The new Citi Field is a nice ballpark. It feels a bit dark, though.

    Here's the Astros part:

LaTroy Hawkins, Astros -- $3.5 million in salary. Four of six predicted that the Astros will offer him arbitration. Said one official: "They should offer it to both (Hawkins) and Jose Valverde, but I don't know if they will." Said a player representative: "If they offered arbitration to him, that would really hurt his market, a lot like it did with Cruz. Nobody is going to surrender a draft pick for an older reliever."

Jose Valverde, Astros -- $8 million salary. Four of six predicted that the Astros will not offer him arbitration. "They won't devote that much money to paying for a closer," said one official. Another countered: "He'd probably get $10 million or $11 million in arbitration, and so the worst-case scenario would be that you have to eat a little more money than you expected, and the best-case scenario is that you would get draft picks." Said an AL GM: "If they did offer him arbitration, it would hurt him on the market, because there are a lot of bullpen alternatives where you wouldn't have to give up the draft pick."

Miguel Tejada, Astros -- $13 million salary. Six of six predicted the Astros will not offer him arbitration.

The Tim Pupera of the North, J.P. Ricciardi got canned today...should have traded Halladay when they had the chance because now they will get no where near the return.

Stros should atleast inquire on Halladay if there not going to rebuild because now a far less package could get him. :D

So long, 2009. Here's hoping 2010 is the start of another run for the hometown team!

BTW, just an FYI, but a buddy of mine bet T Rex bottle service at some place if the Astros didn't win 72 games. The sad part was it came down to the wire.

Unfortunately, buddy was a banker who is currently seeking new employment, but T Rex had no problem resending the message sent back in June...

Here was the diatribe... (granted it was just re emailed to all of us with our reactions.)

Well the Astros are 28 games into the 164 game season. I know that there is still a long way to go but 1/6 of the way through the season the Astros win percentage has them on pace to win a whopping 65 games. I like to count my chickens before they hatch so I will take suggestions on where we should have the VIP table and bottle on Todd party. At this pace we should be able to have the party in late August or early September.

Ok. Ok. If it wasn't for that stupid fluke run in July I would of had it. I say we go double or nothing on the Texans win total. I put it at 4. Or I bet UH will finish with a better record than Baylor. What do you think Fatty? It is what it is.....

    Way to go jackass……..

Whoa, whoa, why I gotta be Fatty?
