    A few things:

Italian Sports newspaper game story link with photo

Translation is similar to the Italian article mentioned earlier in thread, not worth the effort to duplicate the info there.

10/12, 26 pts for Ming in the Boxscore means 26 pts with 10 fg's and 12 rebounds. I don't think it means he went 10/12 shooting. There are clues in the boxscore which support this. He scored 10 hoops and added 6 ft's for 26 pts, and added 12 boards.

Redao: Can you please do a favor for me - I'm a big Wang Zhizhi fan. Can you give a short translation for this article?

    Chinese-language Wang Zhizhi article

Is this article in a United States website or is sohu.com overseas?

just so Americans can educate and inform themselves a little more about the father of the People's Republic of China, leader of the peasant revolution. I agree this belongs in the hangout, but comments have already been made. so.... I don't think we need any more debates or arguments here. just information.

thanks windandsea and other chinese posters. there are many things about China that we Americans know nothing about. only what the media propaganda machine and leaders in our country have told us. we can take this time to learn more about your history and culture and, hopefully, build a better future for all people. an exciting time, indeed. Go Rockets, go Yao Ming!!! hope these links work. thanks.

I agree, but I think windandsea or someone else posted that the players get punished for shooting too much.

"Yet he also caused the death of an estimated 20 million people with the Great Leap Forward, and severely damaged Chinese cultural and intellectual heritage during the merciless Cultural Revolution."

Mao puts Pol Pot, Hitler and Stalin to shame.

Forget the politics **** and let's talk about Yao's game this morning:

Posted by guxux at Netease.com (translated by Lovethisgametoo at Clutchcity.net):

Yao Ming's performance was very satisfactory. He got 28 points and finished more than half of Chinese offense. Italian Centers could do nothing to stop Yao in the paint. Three Italian centers, No6, No8 and No16 guarded Yao in turn, and wht they did were no more than a comined 10 foules!

Yao played one-on-one against Italian centers 17 times in the paint, and succeeded 13 times - either got fouled or scored. His most exicting play was he acutally stole the ball from a Italian point guard from the floor, and shot the ball to score before he even sat up!! This play astonished italians and got all audience going.

"Mao is responsible for bringing tremendous improvements to a majority of the Chinese population, especially to those at the lowest levels of the social ladder: peasants, women, poor workers."

If you read about the Great Leap Forward, although it failed, it was very different in intention than just herding people into concentration camps and cooking them in ovens. Droughts came, crops failed, people starved and Mao's initiative was to blame. Although I'm not qualified to go in depth, I know that Mao Tse Tung was a very different leader than Adolf Hitler or Joseph Stalin.

I have read this report too. Ming shot the ball to score when he lay on the floor at this game. Did any players do such things before?

Are you saying he scored while laying on the floor? If he did that would be incredible. I would also need to see the video.

From the report, Ming lay on the floor and stole the ball from PG of Italy and shot to the score while he was sitting on the floor.

Short translation an article on Wang:

    Q: Any thoughts on defect?
W:No. I was thinking about the money. Could they pay me back the lost in my last two years for delaying me to NBA? NO WAY?
All right, so I am catching it up in LA by myself. I will offer my help to National team for free laterly.

Q: Any thoughts on American training?
W: They knew how to eat. Even my mom can not add 9 pounds to my weight in one month.

    Q: CBA mad on you?
W: I am sorry about that. I think I still have enough time to say sorry again before the end of Nba summer league.

Q: do you mind coming back?
W: I am sorry about that. I think I still have enough time to say sorry again before the end of Nba summer league. PLEASE don't let me repeat it again.

Q: Da....Dallas? familar with this word?
W: Not really. But I won't forget Judy, a girl dreaming my defect. BTW, Nelly is on diet to catch up the pace of referees.

    Q: Draft?
W: Of course! draft! Barkely was such an a$$hole, b*stard,Caotama ,Dude,Evil,***,........

Maybe it's off topic. False news did disservice. This was NOT what wang said. Are you just having fun translating some BBS BS?

not exact words. but exact meaning.
The article is a record of phone call to Wang.

He won't be back no matter what happens, no matter how sorry he should be.
He is looking forward to leave Mavs.
He does hate Barkly's talking down Yao Ming on the draft.
