Using this logic I could probably argue that Butler's 21/6/4 season is comparable to Brandon Roy's 22/5/5 season, right? Of course, I would get laughed off the board if I really believed that. JJ vs. Butler, when all things are considered, isn't quite as ridiculous but it's up there.
He's going to regret that decision for the rest of his life. In fact, he'll probably reincarnate just so he can regret that decision for the rest of his life, twice.
I don't pay much attention to stats but you can't use 1 bad playoff series against Johnson... he's asked to do much more for his team than Caron Butler. Although I wouldn't call him a better defender and Butler's ability to take it to the basket makes him a more efficient offensive player. And Johnson's assist numbers always drop in the playoffs when defenses tighten up. I don't think he's a max contract player, but he would look great in a Rockets uniform.
Players you throw a max contract at: Derrick Rose, Chris Paul, Deron Williams Lebron James, Carmelo Anthony, Kobe Bryant, Dwayne Wade, Kevin Durant, Brandon Roy Dwight Howard, Chris Bosh, Al Jefferson Joe Johnson is still overpaid A LOT even if he accepts that Hawks' offer.
That's why he's not worth the max! He's a masochist. Masochists are never good players. Sincerely, D-Rose
It took a front loaded deal at $20M in the first year for him to leave the Suns for the Hawks. He could be the Knicks consolation prize next FA. Also a reunion with D'Antoni?
He asked the Suns not to match if I recall correctly. He didn't want to play in Phoenix. I guess he wants a longer deal, or as others have suggested, cash in on the teams not getting the superstars. I really don't see him getting $15mil/year from another team right now. See how that goes for him next year.
JJ also controls the offense and does a ton of their playmaking. caron is not on his level in terms of that. stats don't tell you how much of the offense a player controls. however, joe really took a nosedive in the playoffs last yr and was basically a ghost. if he wants to really improve his stock, next year is it for the free agency. if i was a GM, i wouldn't sign him anywhere close to a max contract.
Never give a max to Al Jefferson, he is a good player but every year he becomes more and more overrated
How many players do you plan on trading till you form the Houston Rockets All Star team? I think he knows there are better teams waiting for him next year... Rockets.
Hes my guy if we cant get dwade which is the most likely scenario because I don't think dwade would come here and JJ is not a bad backup option at all.
