Rush is Mobley's height without the quickness or explosiveness of Cuttino. He's a short streak shooter.

    - from Andy Katz article from ESPN posted by Anderlicht

  a guy has got to be really good to be able to score without the ball! How many points does that count?

Scenario: 2/10 seconds left in the 2003 Championship game, Lakers down by 2.....no time to inbound it. No problem.....Kareem Rush hits his patented 3-pointer without the ball!! LA wins again."

    Sorry, I couldn't resist. :D

Genesis-I assume you know what Katz meant... If you didn't, he meant that Rush can move well away from the ball and be a spot-up shooter or slash to the bucket without the ball, something that is crucial in the Lakers offense.

This is an excellent move for the Lakers, because Rush will immediately become their 3rd best scoring option, maybe 4th after Fisher. Rush is definitely the best long range shooter on the Lakers now.

I think Rush is bigger and stronger than Cuttino. Not nearly as quick or the slasher. But a sweeter shooter.
