If so do you think it is possible that Ming could be the next one to average a triple double. The points and rebounds you know. So is he that good of a passer?

I bet he will have at least one quadruple double.

Maybe, but not this year. It's possible, very possible that he will have one for his career and a few tripple doubles per season, I just don't see him averaging a tripple double at any point in his career when there are only 2 point guards right now who can average double digits in assists.

Not very likely that he will average a triple double, but a double double would make everyone happy. It would take some skill to average a dd.

If he gets triple doubles, it will likely be with points, rebounds and blocks. Quadruple? C'mon, let's be realistic. Only 4 guys in the history of the NBA managed one.

I think he will be a solid player, but only Oscar Robertson averaged a triple double for a season and Yao, despite his skills, isn't going to accumulate enough assists to come close to that and NO ONE is going to average double digit blocks.

We shouldn't try to over-hype the big fella. IMO, if he can play decent minutes, hit a decent percentage from the floor, rebound a block a bit, we can be happy. He needs time in this league to adjust physically and mentally. We should cut him a little slack.

None of them had the raw skills Yao did coming into the league.

Pardon my ignorance, but who were the 4 who'v had a quad-dub?

Do you think Wilt would have had a bunch, since they didn't count blocks for most of his career?

I think David Robinson was the other player to get a quadruple double. I'm not sure though.

David Robinson is correct. Yao will never average 10 assists. Forget about it.

Yes, he won't average a triple double, but he definitely is a good passer
