He's asking to be traded to, does that mean he's a cancer??? Plus he doesn't want to play with Curry so that means he's a definate ME player, right?

We are small enough as it is. We got AB and Lowry, who both have the potential to do great things. Why give it up for another player who only knows how to mouth off.

I admit, Monta Ellis is good, but I dont think he is a proven winner, so not very interested.

There's no way they'd throw in Randolph. He and Curry are the future of the GSW.

I would do the trade in a heartbeat if Randolph is included. Heck I would trade for him alone.

Depends on the deal. Although, as already stated you can't play Ellis next to Brooks so there's somewhat of a red flag right there.

    I'd rather go after Turiaf.

I'd rather keep Brooks. Ellis and his contract don't fit here.

This. And he can be *really* good, having seen him at GS several times. But he's not a good fit for the Rockets at all, and it's really not clear how damaged he is after the accident (given the years remaining on his contract.)

i posted this idea in the dish:

    Warriors trade -

    Ellis, Maggetty for Tmac

why: to get out of $90M over 5 years tied up in players who don't fit with their future plans.

    Sixers trade -

    Iguodala, Kapono for Ellis, Maggetty

why: ellis gives them a PG (which they don't have) who can flourish in an up tempo game. maggetty fills the 2 and is a talent boost over kapono.

    Rockets trade -

    Tmac for Iguodala, Kapono

why: replacing tmac with iguodala is a no brainer. kapono is an ending contract ($6M) and a dead eye shooter. if the sixers would rather keep the ending contract rather than commit to maggetty's deal, the rockets could keep maggetty (to DD's delight).

I don't want players who would ever say "I can't play with this guy". Thats a terrible attitude.

What's that have to do with anything? Don't forget that Ellis is 23 Compared to Barbosa 27 turning 28 in November.

Why are people assuming Monta wouldn't want to play with Lowry? They would be a perfect backcourt for a fast paced team. Lowry would be Baron Davis redux- complete with defense, rebounding, leadership, ability to get to the rim and finish, and a questionable outside shot (although I have a hunch he has improved on that over the summer). I agree Monta wouldn't want to play with Brooks as he is similar to Curry in style of play, but I don't think he would have a problem playing with a great passer and a guy with great court vision in Lowry.

I don't think Monta is necessarily a good fit for the Rockets however. We may have to bring either Monta or Brooks off the bench if we have both of them. Trading Brooks for Monta seems like a wash.

See this is the open minded approach that is needed. A lot poster that never watch anyone other than the rockets don't have a clue. Ellis is a better player than brooks and lowry and he's younger than both.Other than the 3 ball, brools nor landry can't hold his jock and I really like brooks. U put ellis in this offense along with a playmaker like tracy and you will have a explosive team.

So what would I like? Ellis and wright/randolph/turiaf. Who would I give up? Shane, brooks, landry, and cook. If they offered ellis and turiaf with ellis being the big fish and the best player of the group, that's 15m in contracts.

    Battier- 6.7m
    Landry-3m
    Brooks-1.1m
    Cook-3.5m

That would be even to me because ellis is far better than what the rockets are giving up and turiaf is a pretty good player also.

Ellis is a good player that is way overpriced. He's not a superstar. I would take him at the midlevel for sure, but if we're paying over 10 million for the guy, he better be a star.

Aaron Brooks is a better shooter and with this team we need shooters. Just because Yao is out for 1 year ( knock on wood ) doesn't mean you change the team. If you are going to trade for Ellis Brooks is going to have to be included.
