How many parents are 100% actively involved in their children's lives though? What about those children whose parents are not active in their lives and they still do not go this route?
not making light of this at all, but does anyone remember the Good Times episode when the gang wanted Michael to join also, there was a movie about isiah thomas growing up in chicago and his mom standing up to a gang for trying to get isiah to join.
I remember that one. It was either the Warlords or Satan's Knights. Didn't he join out of fear then Florida found out and she took him to their little meeting place where one of the members, I think the leader, started messing with her then Michael slings him around finally to the ground where Michael gets out of the gang.
yeah, I should have been clear but that's the point I wanted to make. Mike joined out of fear. that was over 30 years about the problems of gangs in Chicago and nothing has changed apparently. wow

This is horrible. I can't comprehend what drove these people to act like animals. Rage? Pride? I really want to see more coming out from the investigation.
That and a tough economic and family situation can lead even the best astray. Poor kid lost his life by just being there... How heavy are railroad ties? Those things looked huge, cumbersome, and heavy. The worst part about the video are the kids who stomped on his head. This is a time I wish we still lived by The Code of Hammurabi, eye for an eye.
Great idea. Let's give all kids weapons to protect themselves from each other. It's not like they ever make irrational or emotional decisions.
So they can learn tactics to kill more efficiently and bring them home to the hood? No thanks. Throw them on an island and let them fight for territory there....never to be heard from again. I hope that was in jest, cuz if not, please don't ever have kids.

I never said it doesn't. Chicago just seems to have so many corrupt, violent, and hateful stories coming out of it.
This is the worst thing for Chicago 2016 Olympic Bid. Chicago is anything but a **** town, however the gang violence that is becoming synonymous with Chicago is certainly not going to help the city's image going into the Olympic Bid.
I was thinking the same thing yesterday. Then again, gang violence is nothing new in this city. Same goes for Rio.
