McG is not a doctor. Nor, imo, is he malicious. It seems perfectly reasonable to me that he feels 99% and wants to be back as soon as yesterday. However, without doctor's confirmation, aka the "clean bill of health", it's all rhetoric. Bottom line: you don't let players decide or dictate playing schedules...especially when surgery/rehab is involved.
i will admit i am a lil disappointed about mcgrady, why would the ppl from chicago send him to training camp if he wasnt even ready to practice yet?
i agree i dont think they are on the same page, but it doesnt shock me that t-mac isnt gonna be ready till nov, its shocking that the rockets organization said he still needs to rehab, that means he cant even practice, and that means he will be rusty during the season.
please rewatch tracy's media day vid. the doctors simply told him to give it some more time b/c it's only 7 months post-op and the injury usually takes 1 year to heal. tracy says once again he's ready, and has been jumping/cutting/running or 2 months now. and tracy said he'll be practice (along with further rehab). he's ready.
Not my cup of tea either, but I understand the point of it. Number one is to show him working out/rehabbing. My God, if he hadn't, can you imagine the litany of threads and posts on here saying how he didn't work out or rehab? Not that they would know, mind you. They would just assume it, post it 50,000 times, and people would start accepting it as fact.
Ok now at least we know what it is. Because at first, after reading Feign's news I tought there were setbacks and all that stuff. But everything is going great, he is way ahead of schedule. He probably could play now but as he said the doctors said it would be just better to sit an additional time and really be ready with no setback in the future. His body looks really great. I mean, I am shocked. Last year he came out out of shape, fat (I am talking about media day) and right now he looks fit and ready. He has lost a lot of weight. I am glad everything goes well and looks like it will be a fun season with him comming back probably at the beggining of december or at the end of november. I enjoyed it.
It could just be that Tim Grover, as an independent, is not officially "Rocket approved". The Rox org may find it prudent to have McG do a precautionary month of rehab with team officials/physicians.
Rockets are making it obvious they're in Plan B, but people still want to mix in some Plan A. I think the Rockets know they're in the driver's seat here and can (for once) err on the side of caution. Schedules and start dates might not coincide between organization and player. But the Nov 23rd time is still a median, all sides benefiting approach, moreso the Rockets. Rockets get team chemistry, a fresh look to the future and a healthier McGrady out of it. With still enough time to showcase him in a trade. Thats pretty much it, and McGrady has to deal with it.
Yea I figure that. I highly doubt he could make the season opener but this is great that he will just miss the first couple of weeks.
Holding him out is not a bad thing, of course. Especially if we have no real intention of bringing him back to play with the team. *cough* Trade! *cough* Trade!
