& Gregg Popovich NBA coach of the decade. Tim Duncan was named to the All-decade first team along with Steve Nash, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and Shaquille O’Neal. Bryant also edged out Duncan for NBA athlete of the decade.
The honors are part of a 14-page tribute to the players, coaches and teams of the 2000s in the new issue of the magazine, which will hit newsstands today.

A look at some of the winners:

Coach of the decade: Gregg Popovich, Spurs
    Team of the decade: Spurs
Game of the decade: Game 4, 2008 NBA Finals, Celtics 97, Lakers 91
All-decade first team: G Steve Nash and Kobe Bryant, F Tim Duncan and LeBron James, C Shaquille O’Neal
All-decade second team: G Allen Iverson and Dwyane Wade, F Dirk Nowitzki and Kevin Garnett, C Yao Ming
Executive of the decade: Joe Dumars, Pistons president

:D Championship number 5 coming next june and a start of a new ruling decade for the Spurs

Open practice for the Spurs next Sunday Oct 4, 1:30-3:30PM if anyone is in the San Antonio area at the At&t Center with $1 hot dogs and sodas

Well.. this was a no brainer... LA a runner up. But LA had two different teams... Spurs are still alive this season.

Not sure if I agree with the Game of the Decade. The Derek Fisher Miracle Shot game was pretty intense and had some back-and-forth dynamic shots in the waning seconds.

I know the Celtics had a magnificent comeback that game, and I can see why it was chosen, but the Fisher shot turned the whole series in LA's favor and will be one fans remember for a looooooooong time.

I agree with the Spurs. But they allowed another team in their conference to establish a dynasty within their own "dynasty". Kind of odd.

why the architects for building the NBA team of the decade, Spurs, not the executives of the decade ?

someone pls explain why the builder of 1 championship team won the accolade over the builders of 3 championship teams during the decade

I can agree with just about everything but Game of the Decade!! Certainly the Derek Fisher 0.4 second shot was the best meaningful gametime moment!
