I don't get it. Why is Curtis Borchardt placed ahead of Yao?

Maybe the writer strongly believes there will be teams that will acquire BWS's? :D

do you guys realize they put these things out in order to draw hits to their website.

    Statistical number analysis of Amare...please.

Chris Christopherson as a 1st Round pick based on PRO-tential Index.

    DONT BELIEVE THE HYPE

And damn sure, as far as I'm concerned...don't clutter clutch's board with this crap. This is just like all of TheRocketGuy's friends helping him keep his job by posting links to his **** through this site.

People who post really bad links from really stupid analysis

    you all just SUCK!!

These were some of his predictions last year:

    2 Kwame Brown
    8 Michael Bradley
    9 DeSagana Diop
    10 Loren Woods
    11 Pau Gasol
    15 Tyson Chandler

Michael Bradley, Desagana Diop and Loren Woods ahead of both Pau Gasol and Tyson Chandler.

By the way, Bradley averaged 1.5 points per game. Interesting that he has Borchardt high. He must be the only guy in America who believes the slow white big man is a NBA force.

    Real expert here.

More interesting... look at the low end of the list - Jarron Collins (49), Alton Ford (55), Terence Morris (59) and Tony Parker (60)!! all made the NBA (and Parker was a big story in the NBA).

That said... NBA GMs make mistakes evaluating talent (even CD... read: Collier, Jason) so its reasonable that someone in the media (that doesn't have the scouting staffs and expertise of NBA GMs will miss them...

Yes that's true but he pretty much sticks with the draft order then deviates from it to show he actually did some "analysis".

Unfortunately, when Pau Gasol is picked 3rd and actually lives up to his potential, it shows you how badly he missed.

Look at his other "sleepers"- Michael Bradley, Loren Woods, are you kidding me?

Kareem rated higher than Caron. Highly unlikely!

He doesn't even have Ryan Humphrey listed there, nor does CBS Sportsline throughout the rest of their draft rankings. Even if he wasn't the 19th best player in the draft, he's worthy of being included. Again, take 'em with a grain of salt.

Sure, just a data point. Still interesting to read, especially when you can go back and see how it looks after a few years versus most fans who allow the passge of time to erase their own guesses ("Last year I knew Kwame Brown was all hype!"). ;)

It's only been one year since that list. He didn't say who was going to be the best rookie, it's PRO-tential. You have to check back in 4 or 5 years before you can varify his accuracy. Damn, it's like if somebody thinks that Ming isn't going to be the best player of this draft, they have no credibility.

Anybody that thinks Michael Bradley and Loren Woods are going to be better than Pau Gasol and Tyson Chandler is not an expert.

And this is not 20/20 hindsight either.

Tyson Chandler was picked 2 and Gasol was picked 3.

Everyone in the world thought they would be better.. except this guy and the janitor.

It won't take 4-5 years to figure this out.

as someone posted already, it's just to get hits on a website or for argumentative purposes.......similar to the "50 greatest athletes" a couple years ago, just on a smaller scale. :)

Besides, its not his opinion, but rather the analysis of a number of people's opinion that he talked to. Could have been scouts, could have been media colleague, could have been the barber, the grocer, and the cab driver that took him to the airport. Just gives you something to think and talk about...

RIET - you do realize that Michael Bradley was stuck behind players like Antonio Davis and Keon Clark on the Raptors, right? It's easy for Gasol and Chandler to look awesome right away because their teams suck. This cgart calculates potential - not first year impact. Bradley led the NCAA in FG% for 2 straight years and was a very impressive inside-out player at Villanova.

5 or 10 years from now it will be fair for you to compare them but not now. Way to compare apples to oranges as far as playing time goes. Do you honestly think that Kwame Brown reached his "pro-tential" last year as a rookie? Way to over-sensationalize. How long have you been watching basketball?

    courtside,

how long have I been watching basketball?

What, is that a challenge to my basketball knowledge? Oh please.

Leading the NCAAs in FG doesn't mean jack.

As far as my talent evaluation, I think it's the same as those scouts who drafted Chandler 2nd and Gasol 3rd and Michael Bradley 17 (where all the other no talent centers get drafted)

I'd be happy to place a friendly wager that 5 years from now, Gasol will still be better than Michael Bradley.

Whether Keon Clark or Antonio Davis is there or not, he will continue to be a scrub.

Let me guess. Next year when Michael Bradley scores 2 points per game in 10 minutes, you'll still complain that it's not a fair comparison.

    Here's the 1999 Version:

So in other words, if you have a 10 man roster:

    PPI Team:
Quincy Lewis, William Avery, and James Posey

    NBA Scout Team:
Barron Davis, Shawn Marion, and Jonathon Bender

    Actual
    1. Elton Brand
    2 Steve Francis
    3 Baron Davis
    4 Lamar Odom
    5 Jonathan Bender
    6 Wally Szczerbiak
    7 Richard Hamilton
    8 Andre Miller
    9 Shawn Marion
    10. Jason Terry

    PPI
    1 Lamar Odom
    2 Wally Szczerbiak
    3 Andre Miller
    4 Steve Francis
    5 Elton Brand
    6 Quincy Lewis
    7 James Posey
    8 Jason Terry
    9 Richard Hamilton
    10 William Avery

Conclusion: His sleepers are wrong .

Except of course for Michael Bradley who led the NCAA in FG % who is better than Pau Gasol.
