All of them cannot come from the East [well . . maybe] So which teams hear can we steal some wins from Which Play off teams can we skip. I personally think Minnesota and Utah are vunerable While the summer is not over yet. . .Minnesota has yet to improve Portland and Seattle are likewise vunerable, Clippers will not scare me until they address their pt guard issue. Lakers, Spurs, Mavs and Kings seem pretty much head and shoulders above all teams in the West, and for the NBA for that matter. But after those 4 teams I think the Rockets can be in the hunt. The other West playoff teams: Blazers, Jazz, Sonics and Wolves all can be caught depending on how well we play next year. In fact I see the Wolves as being very vunerable with their PG situation. The Jazz are aging and the Blazers are always hot and cold. I think the Clippers and Rockets can start to make moves next year to get to the playoffs. I can see the Blazers making the playoffs next year out of the bottom four playoff teams from last year, but it is debatable that the Jazz, Sonics and Wolves will make it. I really do think if we are healthy next year we will get in the playoffs. Now, we might not be better than a #8 seed but we could get in. Chris
Sacramento Dallas L.A. Lakers San Antonio Portland Houston Minnesota Seattle I don't get the whole clipper thing. they have not proven anything. at least the rockets have won 45 games with their core. although it will be a tight race, the man manning the sonics (GP) is more experienced than anyone that will be running the ClipShow (?).
If the Rockets stay healthy, and they still finish behind Minnesota and/ or Utah, then everyone in the organization needs to be fired, and the entire roster outside of Yao needs to be cut.
Hey we are in first place right now in the entire league. 0-0, and I think the Rocks can stay there at least until November 1st. DaDakota
I think the Mavs will be a disappointment this year. LA Sac SA Dallas(I will put them fourth even though I am not convinced) Houston Minnesota Clippers Portland
1. Sac 2. LA 3. Dallas 4. SA 5. Portland 6. Rockets 7. Sonics 8. Wolves Clippers could be sleepers and knock out the T-pups.
Keep in mind that the rockets also lost a lot of close games too. If they are able to put it all together I think they could overtake teams like Portland and Dallas and get maybe the 4th or 5th seed. On paper the Rockets could potentially be able to match up with any team in the league with this roster.
I think nest year will be interesting. Few of us rocks fans may develop angina....if we already haven't seeing the last three years. Overall, I think Rockets will get the 7/8th seed from West. If we play exceptionally well, then maybe 5/6th. I dont think Wolves will screw too much...so they will still be there. So will Blazers be. That will leave Rockets fighting for the last two spots with Clippers, Suns. I think Jazz (seems like we say this every year) will bow out. More importantly, i think the first two months will be very tight....I will be surprised if we manage a .500 (with Ming coming in, Mo T cOMING BACK TO Earth after his NBA punishment and Rice still cooking). Over those two months I think things
ZRB just needs to get laid. Rockets will make it as the 6 seed, and if the jazz and/or the t-wolves finish ahead of us, than who gives a *hit? Go Rockets!!
kings mavs lakers spurs blazers wolves rockets sonics/jazz we'll beat cuban's mavs. yao, cuttino and another rocket starter matches kobe and shaq's stats, steve will win it for them. lose western conference finals to a trash-talking webber. kings sweep whatever eastern team in the finals.
hey i am as big of a rockets fan as the next person, but we will be lucky to be the number 8 seed. yao is still a year away from being a big impact player. we still can't play defense. is taylor, a healthy francis, a developing ming, and a developing nachbar worth 22 wins? give me a break....no way in the world are those worth 22 wins or whatever the estimate was. and how can anyone not be convinced about the mavs? what exactly is there not to be convinced about? they are the 4th best team in the west.
Uh, we managed 45 wins without Grif, Ming, Nachbar. They dont have to be worth 22 wins, by your logic they only have to be worth 3 - 5 wins. This year 'if healthy' the Rockets compare much more favorably than their 45 win season.
