Good if you enjoy several to many minutes of worthless, self absorbed, arrogant, narcissiam. To top all of that the damn guy cannot even speak clearly, he mumbles. But my fav, was when he proclaimed L.A. was the capitol of Ca. , not Sac. I sure hope this is a reflection of his stupidity and not the fault of the LSU dept of geography. What a dumbass!!!!!!!!
That I realize, but he is still a dumbass. For a guy who "claims" to be an actor and musical artist, he sure is lacking in the area of public speaking. Before he makes fun of another culture's language, the moron needs to learn to speak his own native language PROPERLY and CLEARLY. His fat ass should hire a speech therapist.
I don't believe there such a thing as a person who is 100% good or 100% bad. If you're gonna judge people, it should be on what is more prevelent, their positive side, or their negative side. Say what you will about Shaq, but he is a good guy. If we lived in LA, we would know that every Christmas, he loads up a bunch of trucks with toys, expensive stuff like PS2's, drives to the poorest neighborhoods in LA, and then hands them out like candy to the kids. Remember when he bought his teammate, I forget if it was Madsen or Penberthy, one of those white guys(it's a joke, get it), a brand new pimped out car because he was driving an old busted joint. Of course, somebody will say, "yeah, if I had his money, I'd do the same." Well, there are lots and lots of people with way more money than Shaq and they definately don't do those types of things. As for Shaq's skills, there have been guys that are just as big or bigger, who havn't even sniffed the success he has had. It's not just his size, the guy is very cordinated and balanced for a big man. Every now and then, he'll play around and pull a crossover on somebody, what center before Shaq has done that? Same thing with Olajuwon, it wasn't just his size, he had skills and the same goes for Shaq and hopefully Ming. It's true that he can't hit free throws, but have the Lakers lost a championship series because of it? He usually rises to the challenge.
Sorry but I don't understand why he needs to use elbows to out play somebody in basketball IF you are skilled.....
Shaq is a good guy, and whoever said he does things for his image doesnt know what they are talking about because Shaq never went to a newspaper or wanted to have a camera crew there while he was spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on thanksgiving meals for homeless people in Orlando, or like the previous poster said, buying expensive gifts for poor kids in the ghettos in Los Angeles. Shaq never asked anyone to write about that, reporters discovered that by themselves. Here's another story I read about. There was this semi mentally r****ded person that worked for the Lakers organization as an equipment manager, he was let go by the Lakers after awhile because he didnt speak any english and it took him longer to do things than other managers. When Shaq heard that they let him go he told them to bring him back, and to this day Shaquille O'neal pays that man's salary instead of the Lakers. Also, I think someone said something about Shaq buying Mike Penberthy or Mark Madsen a car? It was actually a janitor that drove an 82' something or other and one day when that guy finsihed his day's work he went to the parking lot and Shaq was waiting for him with , correct me if anyone has heard different, a fully equiped Cadillac Escalade. So basically what I am saying is you may not like the way Shaquille plays on the court and you may not like what he has to say in interviews , but dont act like the guy is some evil monster when you really have no clue who he is or what he's about.
Are you sure that isn't Shaq himself you're talking about? I'm just kidding of course. Good story. And I just want to say one thing about the Payne Stewart incident. It wasn't his accent that was the big problem there, I think it was what he said that reinforced a silly stereo-type. Anyway, nothing either Shaq or Irvin did came anywhere close to that. The humor was supposed to come from the fact that neither Irvin or Shaq are able to speak chinese, but were acting like they could. It wasn't that the Cantonese language itself is just so comical that it should be laughed at. And Shaq acting like one of those dubbed movies, is poking fun at the dubbing and not the language. It's an old joke, that's been done many times before.
You guys take what Shaq says way to serious. Half the crap he says is a joke except the guy usually remains expressionless so its hard to tell. As for the interview it sounded like Irvin was being a little racist but not Shaq, and Irvin is a jackass anyway. Comedians of all races imitate accents all the time, I've seen comedians of all races imitate white, Jamaican, African, Mexican etc accents all the time. Just watch MAD TV, SNL, Comicview etc, or listen to Howard Stern. Maybe you should write a letter to all of them. You can't possibly take those idiots seriously, obviously if Bush did it thats a different story.
Great post. Shaq is definetly one of the most generous guys in the NBA. I might root against him on the court but off the court i wish him good health and continued success. The more money he can make the better. At least i know it won't all be spent in some titty bar, but he might actually help some people less fortunate than himself.
Sorry but I don't understand why he needs to use elbows to out play somebody in basketball IF you are skilled..... Why shouldn't he? If the refs don't call it, you use everything to your advantage. Using elbows makes it easier to score, so why NOT use them? Francis is skilled. If he was allowed to push off before every jump shot, he better be doing it because it makes it easier for him to score. If you want to blame the refs, fine. Don't blame the players for taking advantage of the way the game is called.
That maybe true but in my opinion, that shows no class. When I play ball with my friends, I'm not going to use my elbows and not admitt to the foul. I find it a sign of respect to the rules and sportsmanship, did you see Hakeem using his back in the day?
Since when has using elbows become legal in the league? Well you can say it's the official's fault not to call the fouls in games. You can argue not to blame the players for taking advantage of the game is called. But what annoys me is that this guy is proudly telling everyone on natoional TV that he's going to use his elbows on other players. I wonder if David Stern was watching the show.
Almost every player in the L does some cheating. Dream didn't use his elbows, but he used to spin around defenders and give them a little push with his hand to add momentum to a player who was already leaning with all his force on him, causing them to stumble in the opposite direction. Jordan cheated as well. Oh, and Olajuwon got into lots of fights when he was younger by the way. As for Shaq, he was just talking trash, I'm amazed this post is still going strong. Some people are being total babies in here. "Whaaa, Shaq talked trash about Ming, Whaaa, he's a total jerk, whaaaa!" This is silly, Ming issued the challenge, Shaq responded, let's wait and see what happens this season when they play.
Shaq acts like he has no idea who Ming is, just last week he was talking about Ming and talking about his elbows (before this interview). And why the hell is Irvin on that show, stupid coke-head. Isn't ironic how if anyone talked like that about a black man, they would be in a whole bunch of $hit. I hope Ming judo-chops Shaq in the head
As I said I have no problem with the players taking advantage of the way the game is called. I know a lot of great players cheated in games. I agree we should blame that on the refs. But this guy is trying to intimidate other players with illegal moves on national TV. Never has dreamed boasted on national TV that he spinned around defenders and give them a little push with his hand to add momentum to a player who was already leaning with all his force on him, causing them to stumble in the opposite direction.
IT WAS A JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You know, if anothe team had won the lottery and drafted Ming, and this whole thing with Shaq happened, you guys wouldn't be saying that Shaq was wrong, you'd be laughing along with him and talking about Ming as being too cocky for calling out Shaq before he has even played a minute of NBA ball. It's great to stand up for players on our team, but this is being blown out of proportion.
Yeah, I admit that is a long description of the way Dream cheats. That's just how all of Dream's moves were, very hard to describe a how a dream shake works with just one or two words. . .other than dream shake. . .
i agree it was a joke, and there for shouldn't be taken seriously. What kills me however that political correctness seems to be a one way street. John Rocker's statements i thought were mean to be comedic, same with fuzzy zeller on tiger woods, why are they being punished, why would it seem unprofessional if bob costa starts talking about black people the same way barley talks about white people? If its just a little racy and its a white guy saying it, its wrong, if a black guy says it, its a joke wtf is up with that. You'll never get rid of racism if u burrow deep inside, im for total transparency, say what u want to say w/o reprecussions and let bigotry prove it self wrong.
