[Queen City Hoops] Replacing Ariza with Artest nets us a possible 4 more wins

    Okay as a Truehoop reader I had to try this out. The Queen City Hoops blog writer developed a formula and "swap machine" that essentially takes into account a player's offensive and defensive efficiencies and spits out data that could tell us how a player A (when swapped with player B from another team) would fare.

    Swap Machine

    Our record last year was 53-29 and, in this formula, if Trevor Ariza takes over Ron Artest's minutes from last year, there is almost a net 4 win increase. Worst case scenario is that Ariza plays the minutes he had in LA and the Rockets would have ended up with essentially the same record.

    Of course this is based on the Rockets' performance as a team last year which included Yao's and Wafer's contributions. Interesting nonetheless though
