Some X's and O's on how Artest could fit into the Lakers offense.

    [rquoter]
We lose Ariza. No problem, Ron Artest is even better. Many observers are worried about how Artest is going to fit within the Triangle Offense. Considering that he has some experience with the Triangle from his days with the Chicago Bulls and the fact that he came to Los Angeles to win a ring, I am not concerned about his adjustment. Even though we are weeks away from training camp, it is safe to make some predictions about Artests’s role in the system. As will be shown in the following diagrams, Artest’s main spots in the offense will be the wing and the two-guard front. Given that Chicago’s version of the Triangle did not have as many options, the Lakers will probably put Artest primarily on the wing position, which requires less reading and initiating. Thus, Kobe and Fisher will be the primary ball handlers in halfcourt, while Artest will be expected to execute the initial post entry pass.

    ...

i don't think artest is bothered by x's and o's when he's in full chucker mode. which happens quite often, btw...

Reading this warms the cockles of my heart.

Lakers fans have no idea of the bumpy ride ahead. Either that, or they
    are just deluding themselves (again).

Ron is going to play well, like he DID for us...

Trevor is the better fit for us, but don't knock Ron just because he is in purple and gold. He is still a damn good ball player.

Indeed it only seems like yesterday you were lecturing us on how he would be too big of a risk DD.

In hindsight you were right, and wrong.

Nonetheless, he is gone, and I think we should all be happy about it!

the best option the lakers have for the triangle working with ron, is for him to get it shaved into his head

Why is everyone knocking Artest? He played well for us and never complained until he left. His offense was inefficient, but he had to unexpectedly become our primary option/creator on the wings. And he had to play while injured. You guys act like he cost us a bunch of games. I'd say his short tenure here was a success.

Agreed. I'm not sure where all the Ron hate has come from. People seem to be jealous of the Lakers good fortune in landing him. Im not saying its going to work, in fact, Kobe and Phil will have to do a damn good job to get him to play in the offense, BUT, they could be deadly if it all works out. Not just this year but for a few years to come.

Why are you guys hating on him so much? While Ron was here he behaved and tried his heart out for the fans and the team. Sure there may have been some behind the scenes incidents but im sure this happens with almost every team, numerous times a season.

I for one enjoyed watching Ron play here. Although ugly sometimes, you couldnt fault his effort whilst he played in red.

I think most of the "hate" comes from all the plays Artest broke off while in Rockets uniform, and the dribbling-in-place, off-balance, leaping left jumpshots he chose instead. Even when they went in (and statistically speaking, not so much), it was cringe-inducing to watch.
A follow-up question: Why are all of Artest's inbounds passes bouncing off the rim?

In a contract year it was imperative for Artest to be noticed, so you could (Lakers fan could) say Artest felt compelled to take plenty shot attempts. I dont think in his mind he totally did that at the cost of winning. He hard-headedly just thought he was better than he really is.

That ironically might be the one attribute he can contribute to the Lakers that Ariza didnt - time to time taking the scoring reigns when needed instead of being set up through the offense. And should only be done Kobe, Gasol and Odom arent getting theirs. So great I'm helping the Lakers...I'm getting soft. I tried to be pissed off at Artest but couldnt muster up the hate
