Have never been, always been intrigued by the history of the city/country, so wanted to see if anyone here has been and if you think it is worth seeing/traveling to, and what to do once I actually get there. Any places I should see/frequent and others I should avoid at all costs?

    TIA...

    Take a Panama Canal cruise.

I'm from panama and go there every summer.

I'll give you some places to go.

-Take a tour of the canal, it's AMAZING.

-Go to "Old Panama" which is located in Panama city, it's the ruins of what remained when the Spanish Armada destroyed panama for gold.

-You have to go to the "central", only during day though, not to safe at night.

-You should go to the resort decameron, great place if you have kids and if your singles there's alot of fine girls there. It's about an hour from the city.

-You have to go to the beach Venado if you like to surf, waves are AWESOME.

-Go to Pencas, best restaurant in the city.

These are just some ideas. Panama is an awesome place and the drinking limit is 18 :D

Besides the surfing and cheap prostitutes part, thanks for the tips ;)

So judging by your list, I wouldn't really need to venture outside the city itself for the most part. I do intend on taking a tour of the Canal, and will probably watch "The Tailor of Panama" a couple of times before going, too :D
