If, and a big if, the Rockets have little injury problems then I see no reason why they wouldn't challenge for the west #1. If they were in the east they would run away with #1. The east blows. This team won 45 games 2 years ago. Last season was an abberation due to injuries. Now that we add Yao and Nachbar, not to mention Maddox, I see 10 to 15 wins atleast added to that 45 if everyone can stay healthy. I really believe that the Rockets have all the pieces now. Now it's all about gelling together and staying healthy.

You actually see them winning 60 games? Not happening. They are a 50 win team IF everyone stays relatively healthy. In the east, they would be a top 3 seed. In the west, I see them between 6 and 9.

    In the East?

All the way to the Finals to get beat by the Lakers.

But we aren't in the East, we are in the West. And that's considerably tougher.

Well considering they'd have been #1 in the East two years ago and didn't make the playoffs says a lot. NJ would have been handled by almost if not every team in WC last year. However, let's not go there...

With the current lineup, if everyone's healthy and we don't run a stagnant offense, everyone gets along healthily we could easily be top 3 in the East if not #1.

We could definitely be 50 wins in WC though. I'd say we end up #6 in the West if Rudy's "new offense" is innovative in some fashion, everyone is healthy, Ming isn't rushed, Rudy isn't stubborn with rotations and doesn't fall in love with 3 guard line-ups, chemistry is decent.

this year i think we must chase the 50 win plateau. i think with a healthy rocket squad we will not only reach that, but pass it.

i think we will have 50-55 wins and make 5th-8th in the west.

I agree with all of you, with a healthy team the Rockets would dominate the east..and they do have a good chance at competing in the west for the conference finals.

Doesn't matter because unless they plan on re alignment, the Rockets have to play in the brutal west. They need to build their team to compete against the gauntlets in the west and not the make believers in the east. I like the team we have now, but we need to and should be able to compete in the west much better.
