Ok first off not as a STARTER by any means no way no how but the guy can play multiple positions, still has some pop and would make things interesting to say the very least.

Saying all that, HELL NO unless its for a million tops.

As an Indians fan and a Sheffield hater, I enjoyed this scene very much last season:

He went Nolan Ryan all up on Sheffield's head.

No to Sheffield. Just keep drafting well and replenishing the farm.

I seriously think "names even Drayton recognizes" plays a crucial role in Astros decision making.

"Look we simply can't justify spending 14 million on Tejada next year."

"Drayton doesn't want us to get rid of a name player. He thinks our fanbase will leave in droves."

"Is there somebody we can sign on the cheap as we jettison Tejada he has heard of, like Hampton last year?"

    "Gary Sheffield maybe?"

    "Lets do it!"

I love it how the agentspeak works: "Sheffield is interested in [teams in] Texas" immediately morphs into "teams in Texas are interested in Sheffield".

Not if he wants to start. Only a bench role left for people that can't play the left side of the infield, pitch, or catch.

He provides World Series experience. That's what we need.

Lol, for what exactly? Is this team planning a trip there anytime soon?? I think starting pitching, a shortstop, a second baseman, a catcher, some bullpen help, AND a manager ALL come before "player with World Series experience."
