I was going to say the exact same thing. Ron Artest killed this team at times with his ego and trigger happy 3 pointers, while Rodman on the other hand was strictly defense and rebounds, nothing more.

This was emailed to me from a friend last season in mid february, he just re FW it to me to remind me that he was right. I was defending Artest at one time, and my friend put me in my place. Notice the part in bold near the bottom..... And yes he claimed to have had some insider info at the time.
Tmac is absolutely furious about Ron Artest. its obvious Ron Artest is not playing to win, but playing for a new contract. Some of the 3pt shots he takes, and selfish plays he makes, he's thinking, "hey i need to up my numbers to get a good contract". Artest has never been a strong character guy, and he doesn't care about winning, or cares about this organization at all. He shows up to practice late, misses meetings, among other things...

Tmac wants to win and has been a part of building this organization over the past few years and getting to a few first round game 7s, and now you have a guy they brought in who just wants a new contract. Combine that with the fact that Adelman and Artest are buddies so Adelman takes his side, combine that with the fact that the organization doesn't believe that Tmac is hurt as badly as he says he is (his knee is jacked), combine all that with the fact that the organization is talking about trading Tmac for Vince Carter and yeah Tmac has every reason to be furious. This was HIS team and the Houston Rockets management blew that up in his face. When Tmac tried to jump off his bad leg last week and got hung on the rim, Artest was on the bench laughing at him, you don't do that to your injured teammate when he's out there trying to gut it out with a bad knee.

Did Tmac handle this correctly? I say no, he can be a baby at times, but trust me, he has every reason in the world to be pissed off at this organization and Artest. Artest will show his true colors by the end of the year, just watch and see bro.
I must say, Artest had me fooled for 2-3 years now thinking he was similar to a Vernon Maxwell but he doesn't even come close. He seemed like a great competitor which would sometimes take him too far like in the Jazz game in 2008 with the Kings, so the so-called toughness he brought was fake. He looked like the Ying to Yao's Yang (in a positive way) but he's the total opposite. Artest is selfish, arrogant, a camerawhore, overconfident and full of himself. Yao is the perfect teammate, camera shy, humble and a spiritual person.

Artest is right. If the Lakers are healthy and they don't win, it will be because of him.
