Okay, knowing this board, it's probably been posted, but..

Is this what you want, wussies?
If you thought some schools went overboard when they banned dodge ball last year, consider this: A Santa Monica elementary school principal recently banned tag, saying the game can only be played under the strict supervision of physical education teachers and not at all during the lunch hour recess. That's due to: one, the risk of injury; and two, a "self-esteem issue," because whoever is "it" could be considered a "victim.""

Risk of injury? Who's trying to injure our kids? We should also ban physical education - the same thing could happen. No class activities where you get up and run around the room. Better make them stay in their seats for recess, and push them up and down the hall in a wheelchair just to make sure they don't get hurt.

At least, the elimination of games which have an "it" should keep kids' self-esteems from suffering any more damage, since this guarantees they will never be singled out or ridiculed by any other children ever again... right? :)

    Beatifully said.

I remember tag as an excuse to hide in the bushes with a girl you like and fool around. Ahh...elementary school.

OMG. What the hell? I used to play kickball, soccer, football, basketball, and most definately tag back in my day. Hell we would even play some Mortal Kombat and become some mortal kombat character and fight each other. This is completely outrageous. I thought the other would be the victim since they were about to be tagged? Wouldn't the tagger be the attacker? This is crazy.

I am so pissed off right now since i read that, i mean tag for goodness sake! I didnt get to play dodgeball for a couple years until this year in gym class, its so fun! Me and my friend are discussing about asking the school to make gym class that just plays dodgeball and badmitton (me and my friends 2 fav things in gym) and maybe matball (version of kickball with some diff rules) so that the kids that are afraid of dodgeball could sign up for the regular gym class. I dont get it did they ban tetherball? i used to play that in elementary, that was so fun me and my friends dominated that game, the way it worked at our school is if you won u would stay and just keep playing on comers and i mean there were huge lines and we would just absolutely dominate, then when me and one of my friends played everyone would crowd around to watch. Man elementary kicked ass! Schools are taking safety pre cautions to seriously now IMO.

Maybe they need more money for education since DaDakota can't seem to spell. "Waisting" in this thread, and "morale" fiber in the other. :D

Again, like the Pledge, the vast majority of people, conservatives and liberals, disagree with the actions taken. Of course, the conservatives like to say this is just the beginning of the end because of political correctness and what not. Chill out chicken littles. I also fail to see how this incident of one misguided elementary school teacher in California is wasting your tax dollars DaDakota.

BTW, I can see the logic behind banning dodge ball in P.E. classes, but not this.

What's up with elementary school boys chasing girls around and doing stuff with them? The boys in our school were never interested in girls until at least junior high... :(

    RM95,

Morale, and Waisting.....must make a note....my typing has always sucked anyway.

Thank god for spell checkers on email.

Spell checkers....SPELL CHECKERS....stop waisting :) my tax dollars before it erodes my morale fiber.

What can you expect from a guy who can't spell Dad Or Dakota right, so he combines them?

    :)

My favorite games from elementary school - probably all banned or in danger:

    1. Dodgeball and wallball (dodgeball played against a brick wall)
    2. Crash and derby (you just ran up to and bodychecked the other kids)
    3. Red Rover (two lines of kids holding hands, and one kid would get called out to try to run through the wall of kids)
    4. Tackle football. I remember tackling kids 6-8 years older than me =)

America your way. If the people in Santa Monica don't like, I'm sure they can get it changed. If they are a bunch of pansies, they can keep it. I hate when people try to standardize everything and force their value system on others.

This is why I am for stronger States Rights. Each State should be customizable to fit its constituents needs and wants instead of being forced to fit the prodominant US opinion.

You can't expect Californians to live up to Texas Standards.

    How wussy can wusses wuss?
