I challenge you to find one post by you criticising his play in a game, just one......and the challenge is that it does not have any qualifying of the criticism.... Good luck...there is rep riding on it. DD
Wrong. Maybe you should stay at a Holiday Inn. Seems like your Cliff Notes of being a Rockets fan is missing some pages. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ASxTyFlLYso&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ASxTyFlLYso&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> NBA Finals/AT LAST!/Dream team ends years of frustration for Houston/Rockets dump Knicks, claim NBA crown TERRY BLOUNT Staff THU 06/23/1994 HOUSTON CHRONICLE, Section A, Page 1, 3 STAR Edition http://www.chron.com/CDA/archives/archive.mpl?id=1994_1209839 New York battled back to pull within three at 78-75 after two free throws by Charles Oakley before Olajuwon made a baseline turnaround shot to make it 80-75. Then came the shot from heaven that Houston fans will never forget. Maxwell gunned in a 3-point shot that put the Rockets ahead 83-75 with 1:48 to go. Maxwell's teammates went nuts as several players raced onto the court to hug him when the Knicks called timeout. "Dream (Olajuwon) gave me a great pass," Maxwell said. "The shot clock was going down, but I took the shot with a lot of confidence and knocked it down." http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/199406220HOU.html Dream lead the Rockets with 25 points followed by Maxwell's 21 points. FAIL.
For some reason, I still don't care for him; it's a personality thing. If the Rockets win, he is fine. If they lose, he is a bum. Hey, I am a sport's fan, I can do this.
http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=174586&page=4 post #65 If you are talking about fast break 3's, I understand that completely, that irritates me too happy now?
So what if I was only 10...I saw the games that I listed...many times. If you don't believe me... I remember Game 5 vs. PHX in 95, Drexler had the flu, and Chucky Brown of all people scored 15 points in the game. I also remember the Rockets going on a horrible drought the last couple of minutes of the game, but the Suns didn't capitilize after they took a 1 point lead, as Barkley missed 3 out of 4 free throws at the end of the game. I also remember how Dream hit a turnaround going towards the paint, with a few seconds to go, right over one of the Suns centers (Shayes or Klein) to tie the game at 92 I believe. Then Pheonix called a timeout, brought the ball in and Wesley Person's 3 went in and out at the buzzer...coudlv'e been our season. Game 7 vs. PHX. ROckets get off to a bad start, but we get to within 10 by halftime and the momentum swings back our way. Kevin Johnson has his way with our guards as he goes for 47 points. Barkley with a bad left knee gets 18 points and 23 rebounds. I also remember Dream struggling at first with free throws (9/17), but Drexler picked it up in the 1st half, while Dream picked it up in the 2nd. Sam Cassell also goes on a run by himself in the 3rd, but he fouled out trying to guard KJ. KJ makes his 1st 21 free throws of the game, but he misses his 22nd of the game with less than 15 seconds to go. Then of course, Pheonix idiotically traps in a tie game (same thing that burned them vs. Chicago with Paxson) and Elie hits the "Kiss of Death" from the corner. wanna try me some more...? Age aint nothin but a #...I watched these games...just a few years later. The game tape doesn't change over time.
I did criticize him 1st on the fast break 3's...but I do think he makes smart decisions for the most part in the half court when he creates plays. the exceptions being the pull up 3 or the long contested 2 pt field goal. He's never averaged more than 3 TO's per game in his career...unlike a former Rocket Steve Francis, who constantly averaged over 3 or 4 his entire career. http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/f/francst01.html Thats why I feel Tmac is a good decision maker in the half court...for the most part. Its not as if Kobe, Lebron, Dwade, or Pierce never takes a contested 3 or long 2 either.
Me too.......almost BK....keep looking. Unmitigated criticism of his game, any game......the fast break 3 thing was about 60% there.....IMO...and this is my rep for you riding on it, so judge and jury.... Good luck. DD
Lets get back to the point of you saying you didn't notice Maxwell in game 7 vs. the Knicks. One of the most memorable shots in Rockets history and you missed it! Which leads me to believe you are a Tracy fan and not a Houston Rockets fan as you claim to be.
There's something to be said about people who experienced the games as a fan cause they speak from their experience at that time. I mean I understand people are different ages, I mean DD was watching the Rockets when I was watching the Flintstones, so when DD talks about the REALLY OLD DAYS, people accept his point of view. Also you know what is missing from the TBK, that you can easily see is his passion as a Rockets fan is not there. It's obviously more about him proving his arguments than what he feels as a Rockets fan. Who else goes on a Rick Adelman thread talking about Vernon Maxwell when he was only 3 or 4 when the Rockets first got Maxwell? It's like the kid who beat Call of Duty being asked to talk about D Day. There's no credibility at all.
