Eid Mubarak. I used to see Hakeem almost everyday at Synott Mosque, but haven't seen him there in a while. I thought he was out of country or something. Good to see him again.
I saw him today too at George R. Brown. He was with his brother. One of my favorite stories from when i was a kid was when i was at the mosuqe and hakeem's brother walked in. some kids (who must not have been real fans) thought it was hakeem and got excited and ran up to him and started pestering him. he was cool about it, but you could tell he was annoyed. haha poor guy, must get it all the time from random people who didn't really follow the rockets. he doesn't even look that much like hakeem.
Eid Mubarak! I was just reminiscing with my dad at GRB about how crazy it got back in the day when Hakeem would come to Eid prayer, and then he just walks in. I was somewhat shocked- I expected him to spend Ramadan/Eid in Jordan, the country he moved to in order to focus more on Arabic and Islam. Regardless I was happy to see him but stayed out of his way- people were all over him, and I always feel bad for him at these events- just gave him his space.
Agreed, people were literally asking him to take pics with them. He couldn't even hug his brother without getting mobbed.
PS- anyone know where I can find a video from back in the day (like 94) when the rockets introduce the team to 'U Gotta Know' with the loud hakeem intro? been looking on youtube for a while but havent really seen much
... If you want to take this to the D&D then go ahead but that isn't a question to be answered in the GARM. I don't know what you're trying to get at with these random questions that trigger D&D worthy replies.
the ladies were in the ladies prayer area. the men in the men's. eid mubarak to all. lol, i bet a number of us know each other in person but have no idea that were on clutchfans. anyway, my father said "there were more people interested in hugging hakeem than the imam."
I 2nd the fact that some of us probably know each other in real life but are hidden behind our Clutchfans monikers haha.
