The Magic have added two free agents --- guard Morris Almond and forward Linton Johnson III --- to their training-camp roster, said General Manager Otis Smith.

I figured Morris Almond would have been Darryl Morey type of guy. He has good size at 6'6" and he's a good scorer. I wonder why he wasn't invited to the Rockets camp.

I potentially see a little Brandon Roy in his game especially the way he strokes the jimmy.

Yup, I like his game a lot.

He reminds me of Jamal Mashburn in a way. I would have loved for the Rockets to give him a shot in a position of need...

I remember when the board was pissed that Jazz took Almond right before us. Man, how far has he fallen since. :(

Bingo. Has Morey ever drafted a rookie or a sophomore to keep on the team?
Plus, the player has to be undersized for his position. LOL, just kidding.

He has poor handles and poor athleticism for an NBA guard. Scoring in the d-league isn't impressive.

I do wish we would have signed him on the minimum but more as a situational spot up shooter. He can't score in a variety of ways on the NBA level.

    Not really.

Steve Francis was athletic, Baron Davis is athletic, DWade is athletic.

    Luther is average...

Luther IS athletic. He's got good hops, above-average speed and quickness and moves and cuts well. It's not like just the top-tier players are athletic.

I always liked Almond's game ... excellent scorer, solid shooter with good size. That's a good pickup by the Magic. He could be a diamond in the rough.

Yep, that's why he was off Miami's squad and now with Indiana. Journeyman for life.

Athletisisme doesn't mean that you'll have a spot on a team. James White is athletic and we see the result ... Luther is pretty athletic I agree with that.

That explains why Stromile Swift has remained with one team his whole career.

    Oh wait

uh.... maybe it's because he is undersized and doesn't have good handles?

With a dominant center in the middle you can never have enough good shooters.

A philosophy the Rockets will hopefully be applying from 2010 onwards.
