Good point. Although visually (in relation to the floor) it might throw things off. I just feel like as a professional sports franchise, they could design something that would allow him to shoot from a more realistic height.
I think I read somewhere that Yao does this so that he wouldn't forget what it feels like to hold and shoot a ball.
shooting from a 7'6 standing height,or shooting from a 4 foot chair height,it really doesnt matter. Hes going through the motions which is the only thing that matters.
its nice for yao to still be in the gym, even though i think that is more of a strength workout than basketball touch, however i am just curious, why cant t-mac get the same treatment?, i mean yall see his videos he has like 6 of them, and im sure in each one you have a guy bashing him claiming what his motivations are, nobody is questioning yao mings motivation.
Perhaps it's because T-Mac is known for his laziness during the off-season, and this being a contract year, he goes ahead and puts up videos of himself "working his ass off." Yao on the other hand, is known for his work ethic, and had to be ASKED if it was OK for someone to record his workouts.
As lomg as his form and technique stays true, reps are reps. That's why small kids should never shoot on regulation goals until they have proper form and their wrist are strong enough to shoot on reg goals. I remember the "shot doctor" and mark price pops talking about this.
That's not ripped man...he just put on some weight due to the use of the crutches and inactivity, a mix of muscle and fat
and i think any shooting will help him keep his touch....it may mess with his arc some, but i think if you got your touch/feel going then the distance or height can be adapted to fairly quickly. Plus he's got months to work out any kink and eventually he'll be shooting standing up straight
It is called muscle memory, he is just keeping his touch. It will not effect him much once he goes back to standing position. Just look at that Sasha video on sports science, he had no problems changing heights while shooting.
