    I like Ms Hill. I think she is a good writter, normally. But even Jerry Rice dropped a pass or 2

    That's because it isn't a put up or shut up statement. The dude is being the fall guy, trying to take pressure off of his team mates. I would think that that is showing leadership qualities.
