I think Yao is the hardest working guy in the league just not the smartest. Tmac can probably get away with working out this year more than Yao can because he is smart and chose the right guy. Yao hasnt been looking for new ways to deal with the foot problem like Tmac constantly does. There is smart hard worker and hard worker who makes it harder on himself by having to work harder for not being smarter. The term work smarter not harder probably goes with Yaos personality. He needs more cardio because he is always huffing and puffing in the game. Thus he needs to train less like shaq to have huge muscles and get heavier and more like Jerry Rice and Wilt Chamberlain and Kareem Abdul Jabar. That is lean muscle like Abdul Jabar and lots aerobic excercises and running. The strengthening of his core like Tracy. Then a the training of his legs around the ankle and foot area. He needs to essentially be skinnier and faster. He has no stamina so this holds true with him needing to train like that. Tracy has found the right guy. I can tell by his workouts and physique. If he can avoide being reinjured he will be fine. Yao needs a new work load not a new work ethic. He would do well to learn from Tracy in looking for one.
Its Tracy being Tracy. Throwing his teammates under the bus by saying he comes in better shape than the rest of his team every year. This time he took it a step further by throwing his old trainer of 11 years under the train. Will Tracy ever step up and take accountability for his actions instead of constantly blaming others
Kenwonobi, given their entry points in the nba, who has improved their game the most, Yao or Amare? What about Lebron and Yao? I think its really foolish to say Yao is the hardest worker in the nba when he's never had that dominant season or looking at other guys progression. James came in a yr after yao and has a mvp to show already. Now I do know it has something talent, ut it also has to do with work ethic. I remember people on this board talking about amare and he's just a raw dunking athlete. Those same posters said once he have a knee problems,he's finished. Well, look at his jumper and his free throws and the way he abused duncan in the playoffs. I guess since people assume its just god gifted, he can't be a harder worke than Yao can he?
I lol'ed. It took Tracy 11 years and constant bickering from his wife to forsake his old trainer Hall and realize Grover is the real deal.
Getting paid over 20 mil a year he better leave all the crying emotions at the door when he comes to work or don't come at all
I don't care how much $ you make...it doesn't change the fact that 9 people close to you died in 1 year. Money doesn't solve everything. Money doesn't cure everything. Money has nothing to do with human feeling and emotion. Its pretty heartless thing to say though...honestly. Losing one person is hard enough...but 9?? just think about that...and then ask yourself how you would feel if somebody just told you to forget about a family member or close friend dying. pretty f'd up if you ask me...
Go get a life instead of finding ways to hate on Tmac... Would you really care to do much if you had 9 family members and close friends die in 1 year?? I went through that once this year, and it aint easy to get through that...just don't care about things for awhile. I couldn't imagine that feeling 9 times in 1 year...
It would be interesting to see exactly how close these people really were, I mean with Tmac's history of exaggeration, it makes you wonder whether this is all just more TMacisms and him playing the sympathy card, or whether he was really tight with these people. It is hard to believe anything Tmac says because he is like Peter crying wolf. DD
But we still don't know...and even if its somebody you arent' "tyte" with, a person is still gone that you knew or probably saw more than you see an acquaintance. I personally don't like to ask questions like that...a death still affects anybody, even if they weren't exactly your best friend. Especially if it was some of them were his age or younger...that'll make you think. The friend I lost was only 21, so it really messes with your mind... He did say family members too, and that always hurts. We don't know athletes well enough about their personal life. I never said tmac was a bright person when he speaks, cuz he's said some pretty stupid things over the years. Thats a fact. But I think its crossing the line when people try to treat him as if he's just some robot who's supposed to lead us to a title...he's human. (think Ivan Drago from Rocky 4, the russians just treated him like a robot, and finally he stood up for himself when they took it too far during the fight, and as mean and strong as they portrayed him to be, he was still human...not some superhuman robot.) Like i've said many times...critique his shooting, his durability (to an extent), and leadership...those things warrant criticism....leave everything else, especially personal matters out of your dislike for the guy.
The problem is that all the other things are out there too and the athletes themselves have blurred that line with all their reaching out in media, marketing themselves etc. They have made themselves entertainers etc. So when a news article about TMac fathering a kid out of wedlock in Orlando or maybe getting someone pregnant is leaked, it causes speculation, it is just the way it works. When you put your business out there as a celebrity, you have to expect people to take an interest. And just because you think it isn't fair game does not make it so, others may not share your viewpoint and arguing with someone when you both are coming from a completely different angle is a waste of time - trust me, I know this probably more than anyone else on this board. DD
I agree, but still, I think its messed up for people to show no sympathy for a person who lost 9 people in a year... I just think thats kinda heartless. Why is it okay for billions of people who never met michael jackson to cry their eyes out and be depressed, but an athlete who lost people that he was probably close to growing up or in his adulthood can't be given a pass. I just don't think its fair...and I know life isn't fair, but I still don't think its right.
Again, the source of the 9 people has a huge credibility issue. It doesn't make it fair, but it is what it is... Noted: not everyone agrees with you. DD
I'm not saying you are wrong or anything...you are just stating facts, which is fine. I'm just stating an opinion...I know others may not agree with me, but I don't know if it is right. Just my opinion. For those who do not agree with me, try losing more than a few people in one year and see how well you play. Those years Lamar Odom was highly inconsistent with the Lakers...his baby daughter died in her sleep. I could never criticize him for that. I don't know how he played decent with that on his mind...
I really enjoyed the article. Thanks for posting it. One thing that I found interesting was that his physical therapist mentioned a 2002 injury that limited T-mac's jumping ability off his left leg. I went back and reviewed some of T-mac's highlight reel dunks, and it does appear there could be something to that. If you watch his dunks as a Rocket almost all are off two feet, yet earlier in the Toronto and Orlando days you see him throwing right-hand tomahawk jams by jumping off his left leg. Last year's Tyrus Thomas dunk was left-handed off the right leg. Of course, that's the non-injured knee as well. When driving to the basket as a Rocket it seems that T-mac strongly favors his left hand (right leg jumping) even though he's a right-handed player. Could left leg jumping strength open-up a long lost dimensional to his game?
I absolutely agree with this point. BUT.....it is up to the fan how much attention he is paying to the player. As a person we have the responsibility to respect the player as a person and view the private life of the player more discreetly.
Please list off the 9 people that died. I don't even have 9 "close family" members so I'm a bit skeptical at just how close these people were. Also, can you explain why he refused to tell people exactly what was wrong or why he suddenly felt less heart-ache just in time for the All Star game where he did his damnedest to get the MVP of that meaningless game? Please do this for me since you are obviously the expert on his the guy's personally life. I'm trying to focus on basketball (because I'm a Rockets fan) but since you choose to talk about things like Darfur and/or Tracy's family issues let's hear all you know.
