V.3, ur assumption that I assume it should cost morey his job doesn't make sense nor have I ever said that. The only thing I've done as a arm chair gm is to say it didn't make sense considering what we had just seen in the playoffs and the team moving forrward. Remember this was before the artest trade. This was the beginning of free agency, the rox had just lost to the jazz again partly because they were too small behind tracy and couldn't defend utah's bigger wings. They also had trouble matching utah's atheletes at that position. So what was the initial answer? Brent Barry. A guy too soft forr pop to play consistently in the playoffs because he couldn't guard and was too slow. Had the rox played utah without artest, the team wouldve had the same problem. We brring in barry, they bring in Harpring. Barry on harpring or ak-47 is no different than bringing lutherr in the game.

Hopefully its over and he's gone in some capacity. One blemish or the minor non working deals aren't the reason the rox haven't gotten to the finals. Barry is done as done will ever be and like bimathug stated, they can save money by moving him.

leebigez: The problem is that you're making a big deal out of a freaking LLE signing. LLE signings should be given the risk/success assessment level of buying 2nd round picks. Because that's all they're worth.

If a LLE signing pans out, it's a bonus and Morey can pat himself on the back. If it doesn't, he can just shrug, move on, and pretend it never happened. Because in the end, they don't really matter a whole lot.

He did help the Rockets reach the Western finals in 1997.

True def of an 'expiring' contract? If he wants to play he'll be playing for someone. Too bad it was not in the cards to work out here.

This is totally true. Meanwhile, I just hope that Morey can manage to trade Barry's contract for something, no more buy out.

Meh, with roster limits to basically 12, every spot counts. Go look at the lakers 12 active spots and tell me their 12 man last yr. It was probably mbenga or powell. Powell is as good as Landry and mbenga started some games when injuries hit. They didn't have a 37 yr old finished guy on the active roster. I never said it was the end of the world but you can eqquate barry's 2m to the rockets losing wafer. If barry was never on the squad, they would be closer to not paying the lt than they are now. I'm not saying that's the only reason, but it was a factor. If the team was just over the cap and not over the lt,then wafer wouldve probably been resigned.

Call it the Rockets Retirement Home. We're like the homeless shelter for washed-up, looking to squeeze that last little bit of PT out their tired old bodies, has-beens.

Well, at least Juwan Howard will get a little more in his stocking this year from someone besides the Rockets.

So exciting to watch in his earlier days. Hell of a passer, too.

Spec, Boston are going to either trade for him or have agreed to offer him a contract if the Rockets buy him out.

Brent's signing was a mistake, a small mistake but a mistake nonetheless. Wish we could have used the LLE for someone like Marquise Daniels like the Celtics did.

Daniels was really a steal for the Celtics, I don't think there was anyone at his caliber left in the FA for us at that time.

I'm willing to bet even way after the official word that Brent is gone from the team, you'll still be pissing and moaning about his signing like a broken record. I can picture it now, a year or 2 from now there will be a thread about potential free agents and you'll pop in, "Oh yeah, if only the Rockets had not signed Brent and got Matt Barnes instead, we would be in way better shape right now! I still love DeAndre Jordan btw!"

    Wash, rinse, repeat.

You're assuming that the Rockets really wanted Wafer back. If anything, blame Trevor's signing because he used up all the MLE, leaving nothing but the league minimum for Wafer.

v.3, I do like jordan as a young big over a 26 yr old dorsey. I also like a vet min barnes who played 30 mins a night last yr over a 2m barry that sucked with another yr. I can't lie and say that's the reason wafer isn't back, to say between barry and cook basically putting the rox in lt land does have a impact. The rox have a 2.6m te that they probably won't use cause of the lt.

Barry was a good player 4 yrs ago, but the last 2 he has sucked. He's had a productive career and I like the guy, but the sooner he's off the roster, the better.
