Stated that Nachbar, during his workout, hit 24 of 25 shots from 17 feet. He also hit 23-25 from 3 point range. Thats some crazy shooting. I was under the impression that his strength isnt 3 point shooting, but rather mid-range shooting.
He shot 38% 3pt and 56% 2pt last regular season in Europe, 33% 3pt and 55% 2pt in the regular season and post season combined. http://www.euroleague.net/plantillas/jugador.jsp?id=AHX
Me too. We'll have to wait and see, since that was just one workout. I'm reminded of Langhi's famed shooting ability that never materialized, but the difference between Nachbar and Langhi is that Nachbar's played professionally for awhile now. I don't think he'll lose his nerves as easily. Nachbar will also have more opportunities to prove himself than Lanky ever did.
I get really, really nervous when I read these quotes from coaches and GMs about picking players based on how many shots they hit out of 20 or 25 at a workout. It's like picking your team based on those ridiculous contests around the all-star game. I'd like to think these decisions are made with slightly more care.
Oh man......I wish you could all have had the pleasure of seeing Bostjan just break into a dance on national television. Maybe he can imbue some charisma into the no-personality squad- Eddie and T-Mo.
tpl, don't you think we have enough players already that exhude personality? (recalling Moochie stripping on the score table)
I'm sure I'm not reading anything different than ya'll are, but I got the impression that his streangth is getting to the hoop and dunking. I remember a quote, thta I think came from Rudy, that was something to the effect of "you think there is no room, then he gets those last four steps to the rim." I read that he gets a lot of dunks, I am guessing from drives. I suspect he has Mobley type talent. Good enough jumper to keep you honest. But the speed to blow by if you are honestly defending the J.
Here are the parts of the article I really loved: http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/story.hts/sports/bk/bkn/1474304 Nachbar caught the Rockets' attention during an Italian League scrimmage with a propensity for dunks that coach Rudy Tomjanovich called "mind-boggling." During a pre-draft workout, Nachbar put on a shooting clinic. He made 24 of 25 shots from 17 feet and 23 of 25 from 3-point range. "He's going to excite a lot of people. He's a highlight reel," general manager Carroll Dawson said. ... The selling point for Tomjanovich came during a scouting trip to Italy, primarily to watch Nikoloz Tskitishvili, a teammate of Nachbar's with Benetton Treviso in the Italian League. "What impressed me about Boki was he had about 10 dunks in a scrimmage," Tomjanovich said. "That was mind-boggling. We had Hakeem, Charles Barkley and Clyde Drexler, and you didn't see that many close to the basket shots. Some of the plays, you'd think, `Nah, he can't get to the basket.' Then, somehow, he made it happen. "That explosion to the basket, I don't know of another player from his background that's done anything like that."
Relativist, Eddie and T-Mo are just easy targets since they don't appear to be capable of stringing together two sentences in a row For those of you craving for anything Rocket-related, click HERE for complete games and other highlights from Benneton's recent run to the Italian league's championship.
Trust me, Old School. It deserved its own thread PS- They just showed it on Channel 2.....Moochie cracked on his dancing, said "Cuttino, Steve, and I....no, wait....not Steve....Cuttino and I will have to teach him how to dance." I don't think chemistry is going to be a problem.
Didn't Mursad Turksan hit 24 of 25 from downtown when we worked him out. I know we traded that guy, but he was drafted what...17? What ever happened to him?
