If Brooks doesn't live up to what we all hope he does this year, it won't be due to confidence. I think we can all rest assured this guy gives it his all.

Brooks may not be the best point guard in any aspect of the game, but he has one thing defines this team. A Lot of Heart. And win or lose this will be a fun year for Rockets Basketball :D

    Go Rockets!!!!

I look forward to seeing Aaron take the next step in his development this season. It's going to be fun.

Brooks could be a leading scorer on the team, but not a leader, not his team. The team will go no where if he is a leader. By the way, could you have three or four leaders to be successful? I do not think so.

I think maybe you're oversimplifying things.

Leader isn't synonymous with ball-hog (ie Iverson, Mayo, Gay, Randolph). Ideally you want a team full of leaders: ie guys who are willing to overperform and never quit to be an example for their teammates (Scola, Brooks, Hayes, Yao, Landry).

Maybe I have a different definition of leader than everyone else?

If he could be as good as Mighty Mouse I'd be ecstatic.

A team can have many leaders, not just one. Some of the greatest teams had multiple leaders like the Celtics/Lakers/Bulls championship squads. It doesn't always have to be the best players either. Derek Fisher is a leader for L.A. and he's maybe the 4th or 5th option whenever he's on the court.

That's what we were saying when he played for Oregon.

He can do it though. Brooks is a lot better than his pick indicated. Guy just needs to learn control... he's a PG in the mold of Tony Parker, he just doesn't have the presence of mind yet.

Yes, I agree with you, this paper does not define the leader clearly. Brooks clearly could be a leader like Rafer.

“We still have great leaders,” Brooks said. “I just need to be more of one.”

What I read into this is Brooks will be more of a leader on the court in terms of initiating the offense, getting his teammates into the proper sets, being more assertive. And that's what we want.

It does not mean, IMO, that established leadership qualities of other active Rockets will take a backseat to Brooks. Brooks will be more of a leader this season, as our old floor general, Alston, was.

AB will take his game to a new level this coming season! He's matured, understand his role and knows the players on this team well. Aaron will have a blast this year!!

It's interesting that he was rarely discussed this Summer, in spite of all the dry spells CF had.
