Wow, that's really interesting. A lot of great, new stuff. As you guys mentioned, Hall was probably the biggest reason Tracy had to deal with back and knee issues. Thanks God he is not with Grover who is LEGIT. I am pretty excited.
His old "trainer" was one of his boys and not exactly qualified to manage such an important fragile player. The team wanted tracy to work out with our strength guys and he wouldn't. At the end of the day it was up to Tmac and he would just do his own thing at his house. Who knows what he actually did there? The only thing that is for sure is that he was able to do whatever he wanted in the past and would not listen to anyone because he could get away with it. Now he trusts these new guys so he actually does what they say and he knows that his old ways weren't cutting it.
The Phoenix Suns do alot of corrective work and imbalance check also. It helped Grant Hill recover. It has kept Steve Nash playing, despite a bad back. Morey should have move the focus away from constant surgery(Dr. Tom Clanton) to more preventative methods like the Suns(Dr. Michael Clark) Some folks act like it''s statisically insignificant, but when you can injury treatment by 62%, I'll take those numbers anyday. Morey has always focused on moneyball basketball stats, but his stats never focused on health and recovery. So ever year, he had his 2 best moneyball player sitting in street clothes with injuries. http://www.azcentral.com/sports/suns/articles/0929suns-train0930.html
not too sure what Morey has been upto with regards to treating injuries.. but you are right.. Phoenix docs have received a lot of rep for their work with their "old" stars-- Nash. Hill and Shaq.. If you remember correctly.. T-Mac had a good game last yr in Phoenix and he thanked those docs for getting him fit for the game.. and that's why I also think Shaq is gonna have problems with his body in Cleveland.. I' m sure he is gonna miss the Phoneix Suns training staff ..
Id like to refer you to this page: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=168495 And even if we did get 22 million in cap space, who do you think would sign in houston...?
ATTACK is pretty much the gold standard for athletic training, especially basketball, in the USA. I know a lot of guys who have worked in and around that place. I am feeling a lot better about McGrady's chances this year now.
Good to here he is feeling well and his rehab is going as planned…..but I really hope the have some psychological therapy for him too. Not only to get over doubting his body, but to rid himself of all the other troubles going on in his head and get that killer instinct that he's been desperately lacking.
This is great news. Yao should seriously consider doing his rehab with Tim Grover once he gets rid of that wheelchair.
Hoping for the best, but still doubt him "Once he gets over any lingering doubts in his mind, Reavy is convinced that McGrady could return to an All-Star level as soon as this year." This has always been his #1 issue
The difference being that if we are to believe Grover and his staff, the negative reinforcement of having the pain constantly return and not being able to deal with it (low pain threshold/lack of core strength) should be fixed now, so he will finally be able to overcome those lingering doubts by simply going out everyday and playing/being able to do stuff he hasn't done in a long time.
Let's stop blaming Wayne Hall. He didn't ask Tmac to come into camp out of shape, slack on rehab, put on 30lb of fat in the off season, skip games for secret, personal reasons or refuse to run Adelman's offense. As a few have stated, the reason McGrady suddenly has the right trainer (and actually working out) has more to do with his motivation to get paid (and hopefully some sense of pride) than it does about Wayne Hall having McGrady do too much shoulder pressing.
There is also a Grover article about Arenas on espn.com. Arenas pretty much said Grover saved his career. Grover is getting ridiculous press this summer. He won't have any problems ever getting new clients if Arenas and McGrady play well this year.
Tmac's workout with Wayne Hall http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=70H20uE8Gco No wonder his rehabbing went so bad...he has no idea what he is doing. He is probably the equivelent of a trainer at the Y or a local gym, who knows how to work out like the average joe, and helps people who don't regularly work out, get into shape. Notice how bad Dwade was in 2007-2008...team went 15-67 and he only played in 50 games. That was BEFORE he went to tim grover. Once he went to Tim Grover, he fixed everything, and Wade had an MVP level season. Dwade's workout with Tim Grover http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBxoRfhALUA Wade probably had some underqualified trainer as well who didn't know anything about rehabbing or how to handle that. But you can see the difference that a good trainer makes. Tmac didn't refuse to run RA's offense, (got off to the best start in his career in 08 and he was a part of the 22 game winning streak running the offense til Yao got hurt). And he was never 30 lbs. overweight...he was hurt. He was thinner than he was in 2007 last year. He got down to about 210 for 2008 and with the injuries got back to 220 lbs (2007 weight) by the 2009 season. I guess losing 9 family members/friends is some secret, personal reason to skip a game or his wife having his kid...those aren't important at all right? The world revolves around basketball and pleasing fans, right?
wow, good article, lots of good quotes from TMAC and training staff, thanks for posting it. The 2nd post under the actual article made me laugh though
WoW! Nice read, thanks for sharing! I'm really hoping TMAC can really contribute this season. Should be a fun season.
